Front door opening to DR

Any ideas for improving this? I don’t like that the door sends you into dining area/kitchen. Most of the time chairs would be used at the island and a dining table is not needed everyday, at least not for dining. There is a separate FR not pictured.

The pic with the close up of the dining room table is useless. Take a few steps back, turn the phone horizontally and take pictures OF THE ROOM THAT INCLUDES THE WALLS.

Is there a wall next to the dining table or is it open?

Place a large entry rug at the door and a flushmount fixture above to denote the space as more of an entryway instead of just a random door in the kitchen wall.

Is the hook situation behind the door well utilized or did you just stage it nicely for this pic?

With better pics of this area, we can advise more on table placement.

What else do you use it for? How often do six people sit there? How many are in your household? Is this the only entryway to your house?

Thanks for the comments!Nothing is behind door. We will not use the front door every day as there is a detached garage with side door toward the back of the house.
New house, staged by realtor. 2 people in the house.
. Nothing is behind the door

It looks like there's a tall entry unit behind the front door. Are these pictures the realtor pictures and not your pictures with your furniture? We need to see what you have not the previous owner's furniture;. Also post better pictures from different angles, difficult to see with the dining table hiding everything behind.

Is the kitchen island attached to the floor, or can it be moved?

where is the living room? How many do you seat for dinner parties?

Sounds like the coat hooks and table and chairs are from real estate pics and none of this yours, correct?

And you only have two people in the house and will almost always use a totally different entrance, correct?

So if the door were not here, how would you use this space?

Get a flat door with no windows and paint it the color of the walls. Down play it. Pretend it is not here.

A floor plan and more photos, as requested, will help.

Any budget for building out and adding an entryway with coat closet, etc.?

How old it the house? Do you know if the kitchen and whatever is up the stairs was an addition? What looks to me is the trimmed out support beam over the entrance to the kitchen indicates it was a solid wall (exterior?).

If so, front door opened into a living room. So, that is what I would do with that space.

With no other photos of the rest of the house, I will guess it started as a two bedroom/one bath house.

I need a to scale floor plan and then maybe I will understand why the entry is where you the stagers put the DR Wher eis the LR we need a toscale floor plan of the whole main floor every window marked every doorway and where those lead marked then every measurement clearly marked and yes the pics of the whole area . Post the plan here in jepg format in a comment DO NOT start another post on this space please .

The dining table could go left of the door in the living room make that the living room and you could also put the table in the kitchen by the window

    I agree …without a floor plan …any suggestion would just be a guess…

With out pictures one can only guess but I would swap the dining room for the family room. When you do use the dining room it's a PITB to haul food, true but this is daily irritating walkign into the dining room. This has come up a few times on this site and it makes me want to slap architects!!

Also your climate and any need for privacy….is a big consideration on whether your entry should open directly to the outdoors…usually a closet and a place for weatherproof footwear

In a spot not open to the interior of the home is a good idea..for comfort and to keep bad weather from effecting/entering the interior ..

The chairs won't be comfortable at the island, as it is too tall.

How about a photo of the front exterior?

It appears to be a house that had walls that were removed in order to create an open concept. However, I would hate to not have a foyer - I don't like when front doors open up into a room (especially a dining area - I've seen living rooms with a front door - but not dining rooms).

Posting a photo of the front exterior of the house + adding a floor plan would be helpful in order to receive advice/ideas.

I'm usually skeptical of everyone asking for more information, but in this case the requests are justified. More pics and a floor plan will get you much more useful advice.
