TV Placement + Feature wall ideas

Hi,

I wanted to put a TV up in my basement since I brought my old sectional down there. I upgraded the fireplace to gas, now when I asked the person to do electrical to mount my TV above, they told me there was so many difficulties with the stone and it wouldn't ultimately even be good for the TV due to the heat (although I could get a linear mantel piece to block it), the electrician was a "no" and I do have another contractor willing to do it but was hesitent as he said the cost wouldn't be worth it.

I tried thinking of new concepts and I was thinking of a secondary feature wall using flutes and floating cabinets. Below is a inspo picture. One thing I am concerned about is the bulk head on the left, entrance is actually on the right but we have a lot of space as it's a long room...The reason I am hesitent to putting a feature wall on the right is because they you will see the side profile of the TV, cabinets etc from the entrance vs the actual wall if it's on the left...

The TV I am looking to put is 55" so it would not fit on the side of the fireplace❌

-My options are put it above (very costly and difficult to do, most declined to do this for me)

- Create a secondary feature wall (just have to decide on a wall), looking for feedback???

This gives you the opportunity to have a large screen TV and make watching movies and event with the family and friends. I love this concept.

Tab absolutely could have gone above fireplace if planned properly . Ours is. We have some kind of fan and heat shield thing. It was a pain but worth it. Anyway it is done. I like the idea of the tv being on the other blank wall. I would just get a long and lower tv stand and place it on it. I don’t think you necessarily need to do anything special to the wall. Add some plants, pillows, art, etc and finish t his lovely room off.

My TV’s are flat mounted on the walls, side profile is minimal, maybe an inch.

You could also put a corner TV stand ot the left of the fireplace and avoid the wall mount issue altogether.

Even though I rarely watch TV that was my first thought, 55” is considered pretty small now, that room could easily accommodate 65”-75”-85”.

A bigger TV and on the wall facing the sectional much better than above the FP and get a nice long low cabinet to anchor it too. I would be looking at BEsta from Ikea for areally great looking TV, storgae and a bit of display on that wall

This was my basement media room in our really old house we put the sofa under the bulkhead and that ceiling was quite low too but no one bumped thier heads
