It seems like stone yards can call things whatever they want, so yes, your lovely granite could be called something else in a different yard.

What are your cabinets and floors like? These slabs are definitely the star of the show.

You'd better be very particular with any light granite. No elbows or forearms leaning against the edge of an island bar. Ever. They are notorious.

You may have to learn to decorate with orange as your stone looks to be filled with natural iron. If so, it's gonna rust.

Hi Ann! Cabinets are to be painted so figuring that out next. Thinking of a darker brown color to complement the countertops?? Also, debating whether to use this backsplash or go with some tile. Former is an easy choice but more expensive.

Look up the old Geology threads by Karin_mt. She has some tests you can do at the slab yards to learn more about how your particular slab might behave. Even better if you can get a piece of the slab to do more tests at home.

Joseph- I guess we'll learn to live with rust spots. It will probably go well with with the overall theme of the stone. Its nature... What product would you recommend for the initial sealing of this post-install? I have seen Tenax and 511 being recommended but there also seems to be quite a few variations in their product lines. TIA!
