Thank you both. I did buy LED replacement bulbs so should I not be worried about the caps getting extremely hot? I just want to rule out any other electric issues.

Try them out. 6.5 watts creates less heat than the 50 watt halogens.

Yes the GU10 LED replacements will create less heat than the halogens. Ironically though, they will create too much internal heat so in my experience they don't last very long.
