TV Wall Position Problem

last month
last modified: last month

How can I cover this awkward TV placement? I’m especially bothered that the top of the TV sits higher than the dining entrance’s top moulding and also rises above part of the fireplace mantel corner. Any idea to add some hight on the moulding or other clever trick? I also need to use a rotating TV mount with an articulating arm. The image is a mock-up using an editing photo software, the TV hasn't mounted yet.

I tlooks like it could move to the left a bit and down a bit but it is mms we are looking at so measure measure measure If you can clear the mantel edge then IMO the TV nneds to be lower anyway

Seems like this would be very high for tv viewing

Looks high to me, too. Good for viewing if center of screen can be about 42” from the floor. A bit higher for larger screens.

My first thought was that the TV will be mounted too high.

Without seeing the whole room this looks extremely awkward. The pros here can help a lot if you give them a measured fllor plan and more photos. Just post in the comments

Why here and not over the fireplace with a pull down arm?

Seems you have a room with a corner fireplace, and UNTIL you show all of the room in jpegs, all angles, and draw a sketch, with every wall and window and opening showing, and, put feet and inches dimensions to every wall, window and opening? We're hard pressed to help, other than to say.....there hopefully is a better spot for the tv, as that looks not very good: )? At all.

I’d be tempted to get a vertical to horizontal mount: when not in use - keep in vertical mode, then rotate and swing out when viewing (but hard to really know without knowing where seating is)

That was what I was thinking Beverly but still not great IMO a poor place for a TV but of cours we have not seen the rest of the room

Better would be adiffernt spot but we need to see the whole space .

    Get a smaller TV.

unless you're 8' tall, the tv is hung about 2 feet too high.

Can you post more picture of the entire room so that we have a better idea of why the TV is where it is?

So Ihope you are well and just not interested in getting a solution maybe. We can only help when we have all the pieces inplace and so I assume you have found a solution . A nice short commet telling us would be great .

The other wall adjacent to the fireplace would definitely work, but I don’t love that option because the sofa would end up dividing the room. The sofa across from the TV is a reclining one, and I also have regular chairs. The viewing distance is about 11 feet, and the TV is 65 inches.

Understanding Christmas is is a busy time.....

When the (Orthodox Epiphany ?) is past this coming week and all the xmas is gone,

Please do as asked last month? Post all four angles of the room in jpeg. You are showing us the same wall, where the only solution is a smaller (by a lot ) tv.

You are not helping you, or us, as there are no visionaries here on Houzz.

A drawing of the entire space and dimensions on every wall, window and opening would bring forth more help. Until then? Hope your holidays were wonderful.

Yes...... closing up some of the openung would help. Of course we need a DRAWING to say how much: )

@8254628, would you mind to explain how to fill in the opening?

@la_la Girl, I considered this solution but maybe it's not so practical and I'm afraid someone will accidentally bang the TV to the mantel.

If you or a member of your family is handy you can remove the trim on that side of the opening, add some studs to make the wall larger, then add gyproc, prime, paint and finish it the same as your wall. Otherwise you would need a contractor to do this for you.

We do not see the entire room but from the small area I see, Kendrah's solution might be the one for you.

What you have doesn't look good, , You don't want a smaller tv, you don't want to close up some of the opening, for fear someone will bang the tv against the mantel . You've been asked to show the entire room,, won't consider the "other side: we can not see , you won't in a month, post ALL of the jpegs so we can see all of the space and even draw it and measure it.

Tell us how we can help you?
