Exterior Entrance Lighting - Please help!

Hi, I'm remodeling the front entranceway of my house and I was hoping for some lighting suggestions. I've included pictures that show what it looks like currently and then a rendering of what the new front entrance will look like

While the renderings show a hanging pendant in front of the door, I'm actually thinking of getting rid of that and putting some recessed lighting in that lights the brick on both sides and then the doorway/sidelights. I plan to replace the wall light just outside the entrance to something else. Any advice, brands, and especially pictures would be very helpful. I really appreciate it!!

(Unfortunately, the door has failed so i have to replace it, also the picture of the current entranceway makes the door look much deeper than it actually is).

You could do matched sconces on either side, shifting the house numbers down.

As for the entry way itself, I sort of like a hanging light, although it could be neat to add little pathway lights along the side to welcome guests in the evening. I may just not be understanding what you imagine with "lighting the brick + doorway/sidelights"...

Would you consider adding a skylight over the entryway? It would brighten up and show off the new doorway.

Oh that's interesting. I hadn't thought about a skylight. I'll try to see if i can google what that might look like. I will say this door faces west and gets a lot of heat. So, I'd probably need to look at a skylight that rejects heat, thought I'm unsure what that would do to the light coming through.

I cannot see a sky light doing much at night and IMO not much in the daytime either most exterior lighting is planned for when it is dark and be careful that waht you plan does not shine in peoples faces while they wait for you to answer the door . So glad you got the new door looks great.Something like this would be awesome They light up the stoop and the wall for great nightime lighting. The go to work on some landscape lighting too I just realized there are brick walls but it should be doable . I always like a lit pathway.

Don't install a light like the one suggested above. Exterior lighting should be follow dark sky principles and never shine upwards.

The two fixtures you have appear to follow dark sky principles so I would keep them.

Nah. The bricks don't need illumination. Only the path to the door needs to be illuminated.

If you're set on recessed lights, remember that you must use sloped-ceiling fixtures and that you have limited vertical space inside the roof. But if you go that route, align the lights along the center of the entryway and use narrow-beam lights that illuminate the path, not the walls or areas outside the entryway.
