Poor kitty! When my cat had a cone he dug into the dry food bowl and none of it went into his mouth. Picture all the little kibble bits whirling around the cone as he tried to catch them. 😊 I took it off right away.

Early 70s those kids were stylish!

We had several inches of snow that melted off when the temps. went up 25 degrees above average last week. Rain is expected but not snow.

I like the deep ridges of Bridal Falls and the rugosity that Brother Stefan has at an early age. Most hostas don't get that until they're more mature. I always love the blue ones!

Laurie, your Blue Angel is spectacular!

Ann, Hellebores take so long to establish and put on size that I wouldn’t want to mess with them, unless you don’t like yours that much. But your BA is still small enough that you could move it if you have another place for it. Maybe get a smaller hosta for that spot? Just a thought.

We had an ice storm two days ago and it didn't melt till today when we started having strong rain storms. Now our power is out and the generator is on. Oh well, just more cleanup springtime.

Great B's my favorite is Blue Angel

    Ben Vernooij

    Beyond Glory

    Bitsy Gold

Black Hills - I'm still trying to figure what this one likes

sandyslopes..thanks for your thoughts..this pic was taken 4-22-25..I didn't have the date in my comment..

by 5-17-25 Blue Angel was big and covering the hellebores..the hellebores are growing in front of the house and have turned the corner..I'd love to have hellebores in this spot..moving Blue Angel without damaging hellebores would be tough..

    I don't want to do it..😝

Time to get my act together, these are my 2025 B's...
    'Ben Vernooij'

Next up 'Big Daddy'... but not from '25 but from '24, it somehow didn't make it into my viewfinder this year...

    'Blue Angel'

    'Blue Cadet'

'Blue Hawaii' is in the yard but I didn't take any worthwhile pictures of it this year, will have to do better in '26..
'Blue Ivory' is shown here beside 'Firn Line' and I challenge you to tell them apart....

At this point in time I doubt there's many hostaholics that don't have 'Blue Mouse Ears', never mind its many sports...

    And lastly there's 'Bulletproof'....

    Gorgeous all.

I forgot to post Black Hills.

Beth it is getting too much sun after a huge hedge that shaded it was taken down. The more shade it gets the darker the foliage will be. It is a great one.

Ann I know you don't want to move BA but I agree fully with Lisa (sandyslopes). If you leave it where it is it will weaken the Hellebores and they will suffer. Or you could move the hellebores since BA will take over that whole area anyway. Up to you.

Laurie..I agree with you and Lisa..it makes sense to move BA..it won't be a simple job..

a pic of the hellebores in front..I planted a few (5?6?) in the area closest to the house..the ones on the other side of the sidewalk are volunteers..

True but if you get to it when it first emerges it won't be too bad. I adore Helleborus and it would be a shame to smother them. If you don't get to it well we have all been there. I put things off and then think it would have been so much easier sooner rather than later lol! That is a very pretty pic.

Laurie..thanks for the compliment 🙂..the first hellebore seedling was close to the house..away from BA..I thought "isn't that cute?"..I let it be..the seedlings spread and are now next to BA..moving before now would've been easier..sooner rather than later applies to lots of things doesn't it?..

Ann, I've never gotten any volunteer Hellebores. If you have an abundance they might seem more expendable. But Hellebores are such a welcome sight in early spring. On the other hand, your Blue Angel does look good right there. Now I see the dilemma!

Pieter, BME has some of the cutest flowers!

Those small seedling hellebores are easy to move, IMO. I also have an abundance of self sown helleborus, and move the little ones frequently to put them where i want them.

And has anyone seen Debra lately?

sandyslopes..I wonder if your hellebores are hybrids?..a neighbor gave me 2 of these..they have burgundy stems and marbled leaves..they're sterile..no seedlings..

indianagardengirl..I've moved a few seedlings..I should move more..

    a good question..I haven't seen Debra lately..

Debra is getting her pics organized and has probably been busy too. She showed up in my in box this a.m.

I’m here, I’m here! But I’m having trouble posting trouble here and on the hosta forum…… what to do? Indianagirl, thanks for thinking of me. I’ll keep trying.

Pieter, I say Blue Ivory is on the left and it’s misting like mine.

Ann, yes, mine must all be hybrids, even the one that's been there a long time.

Pieter, I say Blue Ivory is on the left and it’s misting like mine.

You're right Debra! But, look closely at the top of 'Firn Line' and you'll see the start of misting on it as well. Most years I'll see misting on both.

Love this Paula. We clearly like Blue Angel & Blue Mouse Ears!

I ordered Blue Angel a while back because of all the beautiful pictures of it from this group. It is a wonderful hosta, looks good all season.
