I logged in to call out RavenCajun on this tradition that she introduced to us many years ago! It's not that we've won the lotto but, since doing this we've had several minor windfalls. Mama wants a beach trip!

Not burying anything in the yard during this rain. With rain forecast for tomorrow as well, no to a second day of digging in the rain.

My surgery is scheduled for January 22. It's about a 4 hour surgery. He said iI will probably be in the hospital for 5 days like the last surgery recovery. Must make sure the plumbing is working properly and no leaks! I am hoping for more like 3 days. I worry about my little dog Maxx being without me for so long. I have people that will be feeding him and taking care of him but he will miss me. I will miss him too. 😊

The ground is so frozen here I couldnt dig but I managed to shove a quarter between the dirt and the side of the paved path.

The ground is frozen around here, so we buried the money right next to the building where it's still unfrozein.

I buried it in a flower pot this time near the back door. Easy access. 😁

It felt really ungrateful to say we were burying our poverty. My wife added a word of thanks at the end. But we each buried a bill.

Well I'm ticked.

I dropped a toonie into the snow off the front step into the flowerbed yesterday.

I went to dig it up when I came home in the wee hours from festivities. Couldn't see it anywhere.

And just now I came in, brushed away a large area, no toonie anywhere. I'll keep looking but where can it be? Grrrrrr

One that I read, and did last night, at midnight, along with saying Rabbit Rabbit, I took a "step forward. Don't turn your body backward, Symbolic muscle memory is powerful".

Still in bed, I’m listening to winds gusting up into the mid 30’s, looking at the fresh snow on my money garden through my Nest app, and not too happy about having to find it and dig it up. Pennies were placed on window sills, all four sides of the house in case orientation matters, and we all wished each other rabbit rabbit happy new years at midnight. At about 6:30 I woke up and realized I forgot to soak the black eyed peas. I see there’s a quick soak method which I’ll do. Overall, bases should be covered.

Good morning and happy new year. I ended 2025 by finding a stink bug in my toilet bowl ( gave him a burial at sea) , then started the new year by discovering a dead mouse in the trap. Not sure of the significance of this. Heres hoping it means all unpleasant things are gone from my life.

Am I the only one who eats fish as the first food in the new year, for luck? I opened a can of tuna and had a bite before breakfast.

I do traditionally cook black eyed peas on new years and make hoppin’ john my way. It’s possible to find fresh black eyed peas in the produce section nowadays. I actually cooked the dry crowder peas given to me by the chef of Sweet Amelia’s in Kennett Square. Added bay leaf, dried chipotle, and onion for vegetarian flavor. They seem like a reasonable stand in though I wasn’t previously familiar with them.

Never knew about fish-luck. A bite of tuna before breakfast is not likely to happen.

I think Ill be retrieving the quarter I buried when the ground thaws in the spring.

We unburied it after we shoveled this morning. We dig in right near the foundation where the ground isn't as frozen.

I was able to retrieve mine when I took the dog out this morning. I really have my fingers crossed that 2026 will be a good year. We only got a dusting of snow overnight. Nothing to shovel or be concerned about. It's already gone. I'm hoping that is a very good omen.

I buried mine my deck and put a small stick to mark the spot.

Just a thought for next year. You can bury the money in a flower pot if the ground could be problematic.

Yesterday I I had to work very hard to invest in good fortune in the new year. It has been so cold that even the soil in the flower pots is frozen. I barely scaped enough soil to cover the money. It has been a very cold winter so far.

We just kept adding things. We buried our poverty and misfortune and our bad health and trauma and fear.

Today we claimed our wealth, good luck, rich health, serenity and comfort, as we dug it up.
