Hosta E 2025 ................................

last month

E today for everyone's hostas. Show us some today.

Question of the day: Why is it so much easier to decorate for the holidays than to put it away?

I wonder if that little guy still has a hangover.

Paula, you are right, it is so much harder to put up the Christmas decorations then take them down, why? I guess that is the mystery of the day.

    Empress Wu

Love your pictures, Beth! A side note - I love taking the Christmas decorations down and putting them away. I have a great arrangement with my DIL - she puts my tree up and I take it down and pack it away.

Beth Emerald Tiara is so pretty as is Eternal Flame.

Ann so nice and restful. I always try to leave ample room for the big ones, it saves having to move plants around later.

Paula great jokes and plants. Ecstasy is very nice and clearly doing really well.

Ben we were posting at the same time. Really lovely.

    Elegans

Emerald Ruff Cut. This area is on the list for a clean up & edit. I love ferns but too many - they are trying to take over.

    'Earth Angel'...

    ...and its inflorescence

'Echo the Sun'...this was a '25 acquisition and still has some growing the do of course...I'm a sucker for yellows... never mind wavy ones...

    and its flowers...

This is my 'Empress Wu' breaking in early April.... had to make sure I kept my Chinese neighbour away, he and his wife spent a few years in Japan and acquired a taste for fresh hosta shoots in the spring....

When I measure the size of the shoots a few days later I knew it had finally started to come near its potential, it was gonna be BIG.

This is about a month later, late May to eventually grow to a height of about 4ft and the leaves around 18-20"...

It sets seed readily. For the past couple of years I've had several scapes on this plant that will show some form of fasciation, such as this cluster here...

Thanks Ann I adore ERC. Yes. we live and learn. Many, many years ago I packed an area thinking I will move you in 2 years, you in three. Did it happen? Nope. After that I just leave the room.

Jerry Envy is wonderful and yes I am envious! I did not post El Nino because mine is suffering badly in full sun after a hedge was removed, Happy to see all the beauties here.

Jerry I think what you labeled as Earth Angel may actually be Bridal Falls. Check pics in the Hosta Library and see what you think.

Saija loving Ebb Tide & Eclipse.

Pieter wow Echo the Sun is one to watch! I do love an elongated twisted tip...and yellows. Your EW is spectacular.

Beth, I love your Emerald Tiara—so bright! Also your Eternal Flame is a beauty. You’re the only other one in the forum besides me that has one.

Laurie, your EA and Elegans are wonderful!

Paula, get jokes as usual….. am just beginning to remove Christmas decor, little by little. I think that your EA is going to need a bigger pot. Beautiful ERC. That’s one I might have to have.

Ben the color on your EA is gorgeous!
Laurie, all three of yours are amazing! I love that E Ruff Cut!

Jerry, are you new here? Welcome! You have some good ones. Your El Ñino is about the size of mine. It has nice color.
Eye Candy is new to me and you seem to have a nice one.

Saija, love, love, love Eclipse! Very nice El Ñino in bloom. That’s a humongous Elegans! Nice Erotica too.

Pieter, I am also a sucker for yellows and wavy leaves…..Echo the Sun is a showstopper! The EU shoots are so big!
I’ve had fasciated scapes almost yearly on my Blueberry Muffin.

peren.all - Looking at the HL comparisons, I believe you are correct.

I've had it for several years and has done so poorly I haven't paid it much attention. Hopefully it will flower next year and should be the telling evidence...Thank you

debra - old_dirt 6a here. Houzz has changed my profile a few times, I've changed it back a couple times. Jerry is my given name but like Dad used to say "call me anything but late for dinner". For some reason Houzz also removes my likes on others posts. grrr!

Debra love Eternal Flame! It reminds me a bit of Fire and Ice with those pink buds. (went to check but the HL was down). Another beautiful El Nino, I will try and rescue mine this year. Etched Glass is really lovely, I hope you are able to save it. Happy to hear you did get growth on Emerald Tiara.

Jerry, old_dirt you are welcome. I think that your possible Bridal Falls actually looks really good! I seem to recall it takes longer to establish. So funny I thought I am sure old_dirt had an Envy too! Other people have had the funky Houzz thing going on as well in different ways. Under any name you have beauties!
