Hosta G 2025 .....................

No more Morning Glories. I allowed a wild vine to grow on my back fence because the 'bees loved it'. Big mistake. Learn from me please.

On the lighter side hostas for the most part behave out in the garden. They are polite and just have a drinking problem.

Show us your Gs today:

Truth

Have a great day everyone.

Paula, thanks for this morning funnies.

Gabriel's Wing - This one is growing quickly. I am loving it's shape.

    Ghost Spirit

Gold Regal - This one is in a pot. The cedars are ruff on hosta roots.

    Gold Standard

    Golden Tiara

    Goodness Gracious

Gooseberry Sundae - the deer didn't leave me any blooms on this one to enjoy

    Grand Canyon

    Grand Tiara

    Gravity Rocks

    Great Expectations

Grey Ghost - cute in the spring but I have had this for years and it doesn't grow much.

    Guacamole

Guardian Angel - I just have a little variegation on this one. It is still pretty though.

    Laurie..your Goober blooms are beautiful..

you have my best wishes for your Great Expectations..I bet you'll succeed..I considered moving mine for more space and no tree roots..but it scares me to disturb it..

    I have a bad habit..I delay transplanting 🙄..

Someone mentioned earlier transplanting when it starts to emerge might be easier.

Beth, you have so many good Hostas….. I hope my Gabriel’s Wing gets as big as yours. Goodness Gracious seems to be a fav here. I love the leaf shape and edges. Also a great Great Expectations. Gold Edger is also a nice on, also many flowers!

Ann, you have some work cut out to keep GS from totally reverting, good luck. Very nice looking GE. I tried this one and it died, so last year I found two nice ones and planted them as one. Is that cheating?😉

Laurie, you know I love Gemstone and also like GL Mouse Ears. I might get that one….. your Glad Rags is terrific! Mine was not doing well in the ground so I potted it up. Goober also may make my list

    debra..I don't think doubling up is cheating!..why not?..you get a big hosta faster 😉..

thanks for the warning..I'm not particular with cultivars..I live with reverted plants..

my lot is a free for all..😝

Anne, I second the really nice Great Expectations! I have one, my second attempt. It looked good last season so I have to post it.

Paula I literally did lol on "marry someone twice his age". I do believe we gardeners live longer and happier!

Thanks Debra you would really enjoy having GL Mouse Cheese & Goober if you got them. Gemstone is looking fantastic. If you had not said Glad Rags had been doing poorly we would never had known. GL Blue Banana is outstanding.

Sherry your GE does look great!

mbug wow what a fabulous Guardian Angel.

Lisa your Gypsy Rose is beautiful!

old_dirt lovely GE's. Green Gold is interesting and reminds me of Francee a bit.

Shadow it is wonderful to have you pop in. I am so sorry you are having HVX issues, I do hope you are able to eradicate all offenders. Trying to look on the bright side there are so many beautiful plants that can go in where the Hostas were removed. Small solace for a devastating garden event.

I agree with Laurie….. I lost my 4’ round Sum and Substance last year. That was a bummer….. but I planted two beautiful
Heucheras similar in color and it still looks really nice in that area.
Seems I had to remove another one too, but can’t remember which one …….🤔 I hope you are able to clear that nasty virus out! It’s really frustrating!

    Let's try it once more...
The first G is for 'George Smith'

    Next up is 'Glad Rags'...

    How about 'Glad Tidings'...

    ...and its flowers...

I'll leave well enough alone for the time and do the rest in a second post before things crap out again...
    Pieter

    2nd installment...
And who doesn't have 'Gold Standard'...here with 'Guacamole' and 'Minuteman'...

I've had a patch of 'Golden Tiara' for longer than I care to remember... and it's still a favourite...

    It's very floriforus...

I'll post and do another installment...
    Pieter

    Chapter 3...
'Gooseberry Sundae' and the only pictures I have are from some leaves with frost damage..

... and that's unfortunate. It has lovely flowers and the pods are quite impressive as well, rather on the dark side...

I've had it since '17 when I received it bare root as 'Raspberry Sundae'. It was replaced with a proper one the next year but GBS was uncommon enough I didn't toss it and quite like it actually.

Before you ask, no, I haven't germinated any of the seeds... the pods go almost black...
'Grand Tiara' is a recovery story.... I've had it since '08 and almost lost it about 3 years ago to root rot but managed to coax it back...

'Grand Total'... apparently only took one picture of it last year...

'Guacamole', or 'Guac' as we affectionately call it, has been a stalwart for many years. Earliest pictures I have of it go back to '08 and judging by the size of the plant in that picture it's larger than you'd expect from a bare root from that year so it's been around longer....

And last but not least I have 'Guardian Angel'..... I had it in a rather out of way location and only got the one picture...

And that's it for me for G's!
    Pieter

Shadow .... thanks for posting those! Wonderful variegation of the GA!!

Pieter, that there “Guac” is stunning! I think I have a Grand Tiara but don’t know if I have a picture. lol
