B daylilies 2026

last month
last modified: last month

Show us your B daylilies today. See you all on Monday for C daylilies.

Funny for today: How do I like my eggs? …….mmmmm in a cake.

Banshee Whisper has been reliable but had fewer blooms last season.

Before is my earliest bloomer. It got moved and had a poor season here. The unseasonable weather last spring took a toll on it. It had Short scapes, smaller and fewer blooms. It should like the new spot….hope the coming spring weather is closer to ”normal”.

Bela Lugosi had a great season.

Blood Sweat and Tears should be established now. Hoping to see more blooms this season.

Bluegrass Memories likes the new spot. I have had a difficult time placing it in correct sun exposure. All day sun is not tolerated.

Brocaded Gown, a delicate looking oldie had fewer blooms last season.

Buttered Popcorn blooms in 90% shade……a welcome bright spot with a few shade plants.

Buzz Saw one of the few toothy daylilies here. It also suffered a bit with fewer blooms.

Cake? Someone said Cake? Had a piece of homemake cheese cake last night and YUM..........Of course I like Buzz Saw. A friend of mine who only has a few daylilies (relatively speaking) still treasures hers. But I will say some years it blooms more then others. I suspect our fall/winter weather is the cause. My other favorite is Brocaded Gown. The texture of the petals, the wide open face and delicate coloration is lovely and unique.........

My one contribution is Burning Inheritance. It's the color! If it happens to bloom during cooler weather you would not believe how vibrant it is. I tried Desert Flame one time and it was a color shocker early in the AM, but sure didn't hold up like Burning Inheritance does:

Sherry - Bluegrass Memories is so pretty! I hope you have it in the right spot now.

Julia - Those clump shots of Bob Marley and Boundless Beauty are outstanding. I'm looking forward to seeing how Busy Being Fabulous fares for you this year.

Maryl - Burning Inheritance is always a bright beauty!

    Here are mine:

    Believe in Angels

    Bill Norris

    Blazing Saddles

    Blood of the Martyrs

    Blue Jay Tapestry

    Born to Reign

    Bubblegum Queen

    Bombay Silk

    Barbara Mitchell

Becky Lynn has 2 seasons: 1/2 the clump blooms, then when it is done, the other half.

We just finished off a homemade peppermint bark cheesecake. Those eggs sure were good! Ha Ha!

Beautiful B's. I like Busy Being Fabulous, Bill Norris (such a great grower in our garden), Bubblegum Queen and Belle Isle Sentry.

Here are some of our B's.

I love the dark eye on Bandit's Toy.

Bedbug is a small flower but it's making a giant clump.

Bengali has a nice flower, but I don't think it likes our climate.

    Bird's Eye View

Bodacious Bite is one of our absolute favorites.

    Bucklebury Ferry

I really like Buddy's Pinky. It doesn't increase much (it's southern bred), but it blooms every year.

Burning Man is a new one of Bob's. It's tall and vigorous.

I decided to put this seedling with the B's because its garden name is 'Bret's Reverse Bitone'. Bret Clement posted this one on Facebook and said he wasn't going to register it. Because we are working with reverse bitones, we bought a piece of it. I think it is lovely.

    That's all for me.

Blue Dolphin has been a disappointment. Lovely blooms but has not multiplied and few buds

    Boy Crazy

    Bit of Jam

    Blushing Escapade has lovely blooms

    Be Fancy

    Bill Tonn

    Blackberry Dragon

    Born in California

    Big Red Bull

    Blazing Romance

Bold Approval has some nice blooms

    Bubblegum Queen has great rebloom

    Butter Cream

Big Blue Lake can have pretty blooms

Bluebird Sky can be splotchy but when not it is quite nice

I like all of Kate's clump shots. Isn't Buckleberry Dragon a spectacle! Bob Marley is a vigorous grower. Beryl Quinn is an appealing color and evidently good grower.

I was delighted with the blooms of Broken Chains this year. A lot of things shone with early-summer rains.

    Korth's Blue Healer

    Gossard's Black Panther

Hanson's Byzantine Dagger is fairly tall. Hasn't multiplied much, but when you start with one fan....

Emmerich's Blood of the Martyrs is attractive, though could stand a few inches.

Gossard's Blackberry Dragon (darker in reality)

Lewis's Bellagio is a much richer and more luminescent color than parent Prince of Thieves, but don't know if it will have Moldovan vigor.

Bloom Where You're Planted is a nice showy Emmerich. Increase is fairly good; some blooms occasionally a bit imperfect.

Butter Cream, an early one that escaped earwigs last year.

Boss Lady is a vigorous and tall Davisson.

    Bored Housewife from Hanson.

Davisson's Bachelor Party is a good grower with good height.

Butter Pecan can stand some shade in the afternoon.

Blushing Escapade is a lovely shade of pink, with reliability and decent height. There are, though, a lot of pink haters out there.

I look forward to seeing Bucklebery Fury in a clump.

Boldly Going is a stunning flower, but has been a slow multiplier.

I got Blazing Saddles after Debra often pictured it. It is a good performer here, with better bud count than other Hansens.

There are sooo many to like. Here are the ones that caught my eye:

    Sherry: BLOD SWEAT AND TEARS

Debra: BLUE JAY TAPESTRY, BLOOD OF THE MARTYRS

    Brad: BERYL QUINN, BOMBAY SILK

    Nancy: BUDDY'S PINKY

Kate: BIG BLUE LAKE, BLUSHING ESCAPADE

    Mantis: BELLAGIO, BROKEN CHAINS

    Here are my contributions:

BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS: Blooms over a long period of time in my garden.

    BOUNDLESS BEAUTY

BIG HEARTED LADY: I love this pink Bennett intro

BOLD SYMPHONY: another BENNETT intro. I love the prominent white midrib. Clumps up quickly and blooms for a long time.

BURTONSVILLE BLUSH: Another Bennett and one of the first ones I purchased from him 30 years ago.

BO KNOWS: You guessed it, another Bennett. Out of Dragons Eye and is loaded with buds and blooms for a long period of time.

BLUES IN THE NIGHT: A Bennett intro.

BEAUTY IN MOTION: The last Bennett for this letter. Looks a little bluish pink on overcast and cool days.

BIRTHDAY WISHES: Increases like a weed. The edges can be wider. It really depends on the temperature.

BLESSED ART THOU: The petal color fades as the day wears on and when I get home from work, it appears almost white.

BETTY BENZ: For being a diploid, the substance is like cardboard.

    BARNEY

BIG BLUE: When moving my garden, I thought I lost it. I had several single fans that fell off clumps or I had lost signs and started planting the single fans and this one bloomed this past summer. I am hoping BLOOD OF THE MARTYRS shows up this summer as it was only a double fan and the sign was missing.

BUTTER CREAM: Wonderful plant. Seems like several of us like the clump shot of this plant. With 7 inch blooms, it makes a statement.

    BLACK FALCON RITUAL

    Continued

    Part 2

BART ROBERTS: Love the face, but it may leave the garden as each scape only had 5 buds.

    BORN TO BE AWESOME

    BOLD MARAUDER

    BELLE OF ASHWOOD

BEST IN SHOW BETSY: I like this bloom as it is big and flat. Seems to do well in my Zone 5 garden.

    BILL NORRIS: A classic

The following were taken when I visited Cottage Gardens:

    BENTLY SAMUEL

    BROWNS FERRY MERGER

    BANG-A-LANG STREET

    BOURNE IDENTITY

    BOLD PAINT

    BLUEGRASS GOSPEL

That is all I have. Have a great weekend.

Mantis, Blood of the Martyrs always captures my attention-so beautiful. Bachelor Party is pretty too.

David, Blood Sweat & Tears is my favorite, followed by Barney and Big Hearted Lady. Too bad about Bart Roberts.
