We’re refinishing and staining all the hardwood in our home and I’m struggling to pick colors to even sample. The floor is red oak and I want to go a bit darker to modernize, but not as dark as say, Espresso. Style-wise, we’re leaning into an Arhaus/moody vibe and we get a TON of westerly sunlight in the afternoons. Top contenders to sample are Provincial, Special Walnut and Dark Walnut and we also had a contractor recommend Medium Brown and Jacobean. I’m afraid Special Walnut will be too light/red with the sunlight, but don’t want rooms without as much light to feel smaller by going too dark. Please share any thoughts or experiences (and photos)!!
