I have this condition on my barrel tile roof and the roofer installed a 3 ft. splash guard in my gutter so the guard prohibits the overflow.

We did the same as beverly but the water from the valley overshoots the guard and still lands in the same place. We ”solve” the problem by rolling out a yard cart when it rains hard. Then we roll it down the driveway to dump the water.

But the way your gutter simply stops right there, does not look right. Shouldn’t it have a downspout of some type, long or short?

Thank you both for your input. I agree, it didn’t look right to me but I am not a gutter expert. I want to know what I should tell my builder who apparently didn’t catch that. It is a vey high section though. I think they left a big area exposed there. Isn’t that wood? In that case it would rotten with rain. Do I need to ask the builder to consider adding a downspout and a splash guard?

Should not be on you to tell the builder how to fix this. He should figure this out on his own and or with his gutter company. You offer a fix and it does not work and he will tell you, well you told me what to do. Just tell him not acceptable. Unless this is a tract or developer type home he should be able to get his gutter guy to take of it and fix it properly.

Thanks for your advice. For more context, I discovered other issues with the gutter systems that did not look right to me just like this one. His answer has always been “this is how it is supposed to be”. I can’t keep accepting that answer anymore. For that reason I am posting in this forum of experts. I will not tell him how to fix it. I will tell him that it needs to be fixed (totally agreed with you). But I least i know now that I am not the only one noticing things. I wish if I had a picture of how it should look when it is correctly done.
