Any suggestions on furniture rearrangement for open floorplan?

last modified: 29 days ago

Anyone creative have ideas to rearrange the furniture? I want to create more of an entry and kind of just wanting to switch things up. There are a lot of windows and it is a very open floor plan so I know alternatives (if any) are very limited. Thanks!

EDIT: The entire space is 39ft by 24ft.

you should add more seating in the 'living room' area. Two chairs, a sofa and a club chair with an ottoman isn't enough seating for a dinner party of 8 guests.

Is the dining table centered on the front/back doors? a light fixture overhead?

Is your plan to keep/use existing furniture? or are you changing the room style too?

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, the dining table is centered. I am looking to change the room up and open to switching out the furniture for different pieces or sizes. I'm not as concerned about seating for a dining party of 8. We do have light fixtures :)

What are the dimensions? I have a similar floorplan, mine might be larger, idk, but where you have those 2 blue chairs i have a slightly shorter sofa matching your purple perpendicular, & where you have the purple chair & ottoman I have 2 swivel chairs.

I don’t worry about extra seating since my upholstered dining chairs are very comfortable & accessible if needed.

How about some dimensions and pictures? There are a few ladies on here who are masters at furniture layout! Give them some more info and I bet they will have a lot to offer.

Consider two sofas placed perpendicular to the TV wall with two swivel chairs where you currently have the sofa. This placement makes it easy to converse and navigate across the entire room.

Add whatever else you need to finish the room - rug, lighting, floor plants, console(s) or sideboard(s) behind the sofa(s), large cocktail table (or two pushed together), window treatments, art.

"Rearrange" usually means moving the existing furniture around. You don't say why you want to do that. The arrangement you show maximizes TV viewing while still allowing conversation. As for having the same number of seats as in the dining room, I don't think that's strictly necessary unless you do a lot of entertaining.

Thank you pointing that out, RappArhitecture. Very important to have included that, I'll update the post but I would like more of an entry area. And also a little bored of the current set up, nothing too big.
