Color for front door?

last month

I am afraid of the black hole effect with black - but the rest of the trim around windows and the garage is black. Thoughts with the brick? The doors have glass and glass side lights that are just covered for protection for now.

I like the white door that you have now. Or, a Tiffany blue.

Black. It looks like the doors/sidelights are mostly glass, which will be either reflective (day) or lit from within (night), so the only black will be the thin frames around the glass. You won't have a black hole.

    What about the pillars?

Cut back all those overgrown bushes at the front door.

I'd pick a color you like. I'd do a sky blue more than a turquoise. You can go bright or muted. The Sherwin-Williams website lets you click on different shades, easily, going light to dark, bright to muted. I presume BM does the same.

You could also do a peachy shade. I like SW Neighborly peach.

Black would echo the black railings above. You could paint the pillars and trim a darker cream if that's the only area where you have white so there would be less contrast. Lighting: You don't seem to have an overhead light, sconces, or spotlights on the porch. With energy saving LED lighting or solar activiated overhead light, that area could be lit up most of the day so you wouldn't have a too-dark entry.

Notice how the patterned rug brightens the entryway and urns direct attention to the black door:

With the amount of glass you have in the door and sides I would not worry about the black being too dark.

but if you want a color I think an olive green would compliment your brick nicely

I also agree that tidying up your landscaping and adding a light fixture will complete the look

Sorry I just realized my photo had changed the moulding to the black color as well. Here is a more accurate example

If you search porticos with balconies you’ll overwhelming see they are only one shade, which results in a much less broken up facade.

Consider painting the entire portico a cream color that complements the brick (which will also suit the black trim).

Now test different colors on the front door, but I think black would be a good choice.
