please help with kitchen cabinet colors!

Hello! We are slowly fixing up this old farmhouse and need help with new cabinet colors. We are unable to do any demo at the moment so only cosmetic. New stove and hood range are coming. Just put in a dishwasher so that cabinet in the corner is missing but we need to cut and put the old one back on. The cabinets are in great shape. Would anyone be able to photoshop lighter cream colors on the cabinets? I’ve seen lots of people use Sherwin Williams accessible beige, balanced beige, mushroom and moth wing. I’m not opposed to to sanding the cabinets down to restain a darker tone such as espresso. I really like the idea of two toned cabinets (different colors for upper and lower). I was thinking of adding an arch above the sink instead of the design there now. Any suggestions are appreciated thank you! Inspo pic is below.

    • Clean the cabinets/ put on new hardware....get the appliances...then price out new counters / maybe backsplash or just remove and leave painted splash..... The cabinet paint job you propose will not be an upgrade for these cabinets. The warm medium brown stain suits the style of your cabinets. Floor looks good....I would shop for granite and maybe backsplash tile to coordinate. In truth...a full reno would be warranted but the rustic character door style in the original finish ought to be left.....cleaning of course...not sure I would want to leave old white formica like that with the pseudo modern white hex backsplash.....rethink before you start spending money and time.

Have you google image searched the hell out painted 1950s and 1960s kitchen cabinets? Painting your doors is going to forever change this into a DIY looking kitchen. It seems there must surely be a better treatment of cabinets that are in such good condition. It will also take a ton of work to get the wood grain not to show through the paint. And after all of that, you will still see the grooved decorative lines in them.

I'd prefer to see a nice counter and backsplash that goes all the way to the counter. New hardware too. Brighten this space up. Remove the trim piece above the window.

Spend the money on a stainless fridge. Leave all the rest alone, Do NOT waste paint an effort. Start a piggy bank. It's a tiny kitchen we can't see the rest of the living space, and I understand our desire for a cosmetic fix. In any scenario....... NO NO NO to the two tone if you take the plunge, A look already sailed and will cut small, into smaller and in half.

A thorough de clutter kn the meantime, will help as well.

I agree a new counter depth fridge in stainless , hope new stove and hood are stainless . Remove tha goofy piece above the sink and do not replace Declutter and save your pennies until you can do a huge redo of that space .. All the stuff around the window just has to go, no decor on the stove . This space needs a complete redo at some stage and honestly DIY painted cabinets rearely last and then you will have a mess.

I would keep the cabinets, clean them, and then try some Howards restore a finish, in close to the same color as the cabinets are now. I would pick new formica counters, in a white or marble look that goes with the backsplash. The counters you have now, do not look good with the backsplash. No two toned cabinets. That just gives a cut up look to your kitchen. As to appliances, I dont mind the white ones you have now, and I really dislike stainless. The choice is up to you.

I think if you paint your cabinet it's a lot of effort I've done it before it's a lot of work it's more work than you realize a lot of people wanted to hire me for it and I said I won't do it again for a million bucks so they quit asking me I wouldn't do it cuz for one thing by your dishwasher you remove the door and you can see into your cabinet if you had a lighter color and I wouldn't do an arch above the window the window is square and the arch would probably not look right ended right

But it's hard to stop running horse if you have to just paint the upper cabinets leave the bottom alone it's going to show even more eye sores and cabinets are cheap and if you paint the upper cabinets paint it the soffit color that is above the cabinet area paint it the same so that would be an improvement up above but like I said it's a lot of work
