Quiltville Mystery 2025

Here is my version of the 2025 Quiltville mystery, Lupines and Laughter. I used green where Bonnie called for pink. I only made 1/3 of the quantity of each clue, waiting to see how it came together. I have to say, I’m not crazy about it. Glad I didn’t make all 64 blocks!

I didn’t have enough flying geese to make her border, so I ended up spending a lot of time figuring out the border. I could have just spent the time making another 20 flying geese! LOL.

I’m going to put it away for a while before I quilt it.

I think Bonnie Hunter has lots of good quilting advice usually, but her mysteries have too darn many small pieces.

Proud of you for doing another one of hers. And knowing when to downsize!

I love your color choices!! I can't imagine 64 blocks - what size did that finish?

I agree, her patterns are beautiful, but so many tiny pieces.

Sue, the given finished size is 90” square (8 X 8 10-inch blocks). Bonnie has many free patterns on her website, and they usually don’t have so many pieces. It seems to be just the mystery quilts with a zillion pieces.

The Ohio star blocks have quarter square triangles that finish at 2”. Some folks in the FB group made half-size quilts, so those would be 1”. That’s some tiny triangles!

Donna, that turned out beautifully. Bonnie’s patterns do have lots of little pieces, but they are lovely.

Very beautiful, Donna! I still haven't finished last year's pattern, lol! Hopefully now that the holidays are over, I can get back to it again 😄
