I’ve been doing something different

last month

This is called diamond painting. (A complete misnomer - there is no painting and certainly no diamonds!)

Many, many faceted plastic dots are stuck onto canvas following the chart. There are about 8 dots to the inch. The whole picture is about 9-1/2” square, and took me about 20 hours over 10 days.

Now I just need hubby to make a frame for it.

There’s a sheet of protective plastic causing some weird reflections.

An ad for diamond painting has been popping up on my ipad. The ones being promoted are Christmas themed. They look very ’inviting’. Do I want to recharge my batteries?? Well, yes, but do I want to do painting?

Ah, a lightbulb just went off, great granddaughter will be 13 next month. She might just get one of these. If she can keep the dog away.

I have seen some of these that turn out very pretty. Yours qualifies! I think we sometimes need a break from quilting, just to recharge our batteries.

How very colorful & tropical! I don't think I am familiar with that type of crafting. I will have to investigate.

When I need a break from quilting, I always have stainless polishing, bottom cleaning, non-skid deck waxing....all that fun stuff!, lol! 🤣

Swabbing the decks, Char? Living on a boat must be a lot like living in an RV. Can’t put off the chores for long!

What a clever idea when a break from the ordinary is required. Very pretty, and I'm glad you are framing it. I did a lot of crewel embroidery in the 70's. How I wish I had kept some of those pieces.

Theresa, she would probably like it! You use a stylus with wax on the end to pick up and place the dots. The canvas is coated with adhesive, but you can unstick the dots if you need to.
