last modified: last month

Show us your H daylilies today.

funny for today : Insanity is heredity, you get it from your children.

Heavenly Breezes is tall and has increased nicely.

Heavenly Curls has been slow to establish.

Heavenly Hidden Treasure has had good increase and is sunfast in all day sun exposure.

Hemstitched

Her Best Bloomers is a favorite here. great bud count and increase. The color is like nothing else. She has been the bud queen often.

Here lies Butch has been worth the wait…..took awhile to get established.

How High the Moon is pure white. Bud count and increase has been good.

My dark purple daylilies almost always show up in my climate as dark Maroon. I kind of got used to that color in it's own right. All that is to say I am drawn to your first daylily Heavenly Breezes for its saturated color. Her Best Bloomers is always so vivid. Very pretty.....My one H illustrates how " registered dark Lavender" looks in my climate - deep mauve. Again, I've grown to like this "lost in translation" type of color.

Ha Ha! I like your funny for today. Now I know what happened to me.

Maryl, Heaven's Throne is beautiful whatever color it is!

Sherry, Her Best Bloomers is indeed a wonderful color. I also like Here Lies Butch.

I have a few H's since we grow a lot of Gossards.

I like the delicate colors of Heavenly Angel Kisses. This one grows quite tall.

Heavenly Be My Valentine is a late blooming variety.

Heavenly Fireblaster is one of the brightest colors in the garden. It's tall too.

Heavenly Pink Angel makes quite the clump.

Heavenly Twilight Zone shows some interesting colors.

Height of Fashion is a small flower on tallish scapes.

Highly Venomous has given some lovely flowes, but I am not thrilled by its plant habit.

Hillside Bright and Early, as its name suggests, is an early bloomer. The hybridizer says it blooms at the same time as Stella for him. It's not that early for us though.

    That's all for me.

I have 7 kids--what does that say about my sanity?

Sherry, Her Best Bloomers is a great color [odd name].

Maryl, Heaven's Throne is also a great color.

Nancy, Heavenly Be My Valentine is very pretty!

Hakuna Matata is fairly new here. It is doing well and very pretty, but not up to height nor bud count yet.

Highland Pinched Finger really stands out with its bright color.

    Hyperion had a massive bloom!

Hot Wheels was thinned so it is working its way back to clump strength, which is massive.

    That's all,

Sherry - What a gorgeous picture of Here Lies Butch with that amazing hosta! I very much like Heavenly Hidden Treasure and Her Best Bloomers too!

Brad - Hakuna Matata has super color!

Nancy - I'm drawn to the bloom on Highly Venomous. Too bad about the plant habit. Maybe you should try it in a different spot.

Maryl - I like the color of Heaven's Throne in your climate, and what a beautiful edge it has!

    Here are mine!

Heavenly Snow White was short last year. I hope it will be taller in the future.

Heavenly Vampiress was new. It had a strange color.

High Water Mark bloomed very short in its first year here.

    No H's to show.

Debra: High Water Mark did not get to the registered height when I grew it in NYS. I would say perhaps around 28-30. Lots of scapes and buds and loved the blooms.

Brad: Love the image of Hakuna Matata and hope it gives you a nice clump of blooms.

Nancy: I like the colors in Heavenly Twilight Zone.

Sherry: Her Best Bloomers just glows. Wow.

Maryl: Heaven's Throne is sweet. Looks rose color to my eyes.

Julia - High Watermark was only 22-26 inches when I grew it in Nashville, mainly because of grubs always eating the roots. Here it was only 22-23 inches tall even though I had gotten it planted the previous September. I would be thrilled if it ever got to 30 inches.

Sherry, I really like HER BEST BLOOMERS (I need to get a piece of this one) and HERE LIES BUTCH.

Brad, I really like HAKUNA MATATA (may have to add this to the collection).

    Here are my contributions:

HOT SEAT: The only Maryott that I grow. Wild color. Wish the blooms were bigger.

    HEMAN: tall and consistent performer

    HANDWRITING ON THE WALL

HUMUNGOUSAUR: Usually taller, but found a new home in the spring.

    HEAVENLY WAY BIG

HEART OF THE SEA: A plant I am growing for the club.

HAVE A HEART: A Bennett intro

HERBGIRL'S CHERRY MOONSHINE: This one is always loaded with buds.

    HEROES IN BLUE: Delicate colors

HITS DIFFERENT: I believe that Debra likes this one

HONEY ON MY LIPS: This is a favorite.

This one was taken at COTTAGE GARDENS and is not in my garden.

    HEAVENLY ZEBRA STRIPES

That is all from me. Stay warm and stay safe.

David - I do like Hits Different! Heart of the Sea is so pretty!

David, I do like Hot Seat. I really like the various daylilies I've seen where the eye takes up a lot of the bloom. Sadly, every time someone posts one, they say it is either poorly budded, not tall enough, delicate or other issues. I've had two of that type, one was burnt to a crisp by 11:00am, the other barely bloomed.

I will post several now, with some more to come. Bright sun today, but so cold, and the first two weeks of February are also forecast below normal.

I've enjoyed seeing all the Gossards.

Hush Little Baby I can't seem to eliminate.

Heavenly Dark Matter is a large flower; makes a statement in the earlier bloom period.

Heavenly United We Stand was a worthy Stout.

Heroes on Horseback is a tall Davisson whose form looks good in the estate garden (above a railing, looking down on a lower level).

Heavenly Starfire is an early-blooming Gossard that is large and showy.

Handwriting on the Wall was divided after this pic was taken. It is recovering back to clump size.

Honey on My Lips for some reason does not attract the attention of visitors.

Hooked on You was also divided and is recovering well. Scape height would ideally be a bit taller, but blooms have been clean.

Heavenly Bombshell is a later bloomer.

Hardy Har Har looked good last year. Vigorous

Half Moon Key has looked good in the early season. A Petit with decent height (at least in recent years).

Heman can be variable. Recently divided.

Heroes on Horseback is a nice, bright large, Mantis. Very beautiful.

Hush Little Baby is beautiful--great color and form. I see on NGA that it is quite popular. Is it well budded?

Yes, Hush is a traditional favorite. Buds in the 6-10 range, as I recall, which is rather common here in the North. A front-row plant.

Hiding Place usually looks good, but slow to multiply here.

Another Emmerich, Heartbeat of Heaven, I did not photograph this year (was divided last year). It hasn't always looked good, but hit its stride last year. Used a lot in hybridizing.

mantis: Hush Little Baby looks very good in a clump and appears to open nicely. I like all the reds you posted but Hooked On You especially. I use to grow Half Moon Key in NYS and it did very good and about 24 inch height. The reverse of that cross is No More Tears (Emmerich) which I also grew but typically height varied. but the blooms were beautiful.

Still catching up with only one letter left after this one!

Sherry, Her Best Bloomers is a wonderful color. Nancy, Hares in Paradise has such pretty form and color or colors! Maryl, Heaven’s Throne is beautiful and just your colors. Have a Heart, Hooked on You and Hardy Har Har also caught my eye.

    Hakuna Matata is another favorite

High Water Mark may have also have been lost to bucket truck

    H. White Lightning hit its stride

    Hush Little Baby

Heartbeat of Heaven was one of only a few that did not perform well last season

Helen Reynolds-Maryl, don’t you have this one?

    Heritage House

    Heart of Glass

    Humungousaur

    H. Dark Matter

Kate, I sure hope that at least some of High Water Mark survived! Quite a beauty. I also really like Heartbeat of Heaven and Hakuna Matata.
