Hey, where’d my eyebrows go??

Especially at the ends closest to my hairline, my eyebrows are slowly disappearing. I will occasionally dig out the eyebrow pencil for special occasions, but I’d rather not have to draw my own eyebrows. I used to have great brows!

Anyone use a product for growing eyebrows? I’ve heard Latisse can be used, but also saw references to using Monoxidil? Anyone?

Some salons use stain and or tint them (not all). You may have more brows than you think but they need to be darker?

Latisse works on my lashes but I just dont bother.

I hear you. While my hair is quite gray, my eyebrows have remained dark, but they were thinning. I've been using Latisse on my lashes since 2017 and I would run the brush through my brows after giving my lashes good coverage. I saw a little improvement. Then I found something called, of all things, Brow Babe at Costco. It had two wand-type applicators, about $35 for both. I used that and saw more results. Then they had a similar thing called Lash Babe that I continued to use on my brows. Then I bought some on eBay. Seriously. Now I occasionally pluck the random hairs that are sprouting that I don't need. I used to fill in a bit with Elf brow pencil or somesuch, but all I do is comb them now.

Mtn, I have had them tinted. What that does, for me, is leave some dye on my skin to kind of act like a liner. My eyebrows are pretty dark but I will get them tinted just to make them appear less sparse.

Sometimes that can be a sign of underactive thyroid? When it's on the outer ends like that.

NeuBrow works for me. I buy it during the Nordstrom sale and it lasts me all year. Several years ago I posted before and afters and it was impressive.

I have eyebrows enough for all of you! If only I could share ...

Yes, mine decided to thin out just as prominent eyebrows became the trend.

Glad to see this thread for ideas.

ETA: Meant to say I tried this from The Ordinary. Didn’t work for me at all.

Funky, I’m very jealous of your brows! :)

I think the eyebrows just get sick and tired of being on the same face for years, and they just up and leave, with no warning. Very rude.

I was looking this morning for something like might help and stumbled on this serum. The reviews are very good, and many are using the castor oil on the scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows and scalp. One woman also uses it on her neck. The first review is very telling.

Echoing legomom - have you had your thyroid checked?

I hear you regarding eyebrows. I use a brow gel. I have tried dying them, but the white hairs just don’t dye🤷‍♀️ kinda frustrating

I've not done anything with them except use eyebrow powder when I put makeup on. I've heard of microblading and it's not supposed to be as permanent as tattoo, though my cousin had hers tattooed. I'd be concerned about something permanent as I remember my mother's eyebrows 'slipped' with age and where the brow was growing was no longer on her brow bone but below. I'd be afraid with something permanent that that would happen to me.

While I have thyroid disease, I have been stable and in range for decades now. But my eyebrow ends have almost disappeared.

I really like the Benefit Gimme Brow product for filling in brows. I use the mini size and it's really easy to apply. It has gel and small fibers and grabs on nicely to the little pale baby hairs and the brow hairs and adds some oomph. My head hair is 100% gray and I use the cool light blonde shade.

I can vouch for the numerous benefits of castor oil on skin and hair. As it is highly viscous, I mix a few drops into my container of moisturizer as well as my leave-in conditioner for my hair. Before bedtime, I use it on my brows, lashes and face. A teaspoon of the oil administered internally each month is said to "detox" the intestines, though I haven't tried that because I eat a high-fiber diet and am not worried about my intestines.

I have used this Eye Balm stick for my lashes. I bought it when my lower lashed all but completely disappeared. My lashes are back. They say it can be used on brows, and I have noticed that it seem when I use the eye balm on my lashes, I seem to get more brow hairs growing. It is like a Burts Bees lip balm if you get the softer version, but I still apply it to my finger and swipe along the lash line to avoid a tug. That might not be necessary with brows. The price is great and it doesn't sting like most serums.

I forgot the link: Eye Balm

Wow, lots of options. I just ordered the Eye Balm since it seems to be the ”healthy” option, worth a try.

Meanwhile I have an appt next week for brow wax and tint, so I will look purty for a wedding next weekend. (…or at least my eyebrows will.)

Last time I had my thyroid checked was last spring. Normal. I can bring this up at my physical in April.

Another one here with shortened eyebrows and hypothyroidism and many primary doctors aren't great at recognizing when it needs treating. Up to 60% of cases go undiagnosed in the U.S. I just feather with a Chanel eyebrow pencil.

@nutsaboutplants If the castor oil helps with hair regrowth on brows and lashes, wouldn't it also help it grow on the face? I don't need that!

RNmom, I've had no facial hair problem.

    I don't either but I don'twant to start one!

What I meant was that years of castor oil application hasn’t caused any facial hair growth, at least in my experience.

My hairdresser used to dye mine but now that I’m mostly gray,my brows aren’t brown either. Mine have always been thin and like yours they now almost disappear out on the ends.

I use ’Just for Men’ beard and mustache dye now and then. Around $10 and it will last just as long as having it done. I don’t like the big brush that comes with it so use an old small eyebrow brush. I wipe it off after 5-10 minutes with a baby wipe.

I also use castor oil, applying it with a qtip each night before bed. It seems to help a bit. I've also noticed that my red light panel seems to help when I use it consistently.

I previously used both RapidLash and RapidBrow. The lash product started causing redness, so I discontinued. The brow product worked well. In some areas too well, as in the wider areas, some individual brow hairs grew too long.

The drops i put in my eyes to keep the pressure down also makes my eyelashes grow. It doesnt make them thicker, just longer. I love feeling them when I blink after a lifetime of stubby eyelashes.

In my distant youth I had dark thick eyebrows and plucked them like crazy. I was actually a little self concious about yhem although I doubt anyone else noticed them. What I wouldn't give to have them back!

I trim them myself and use hair dye or Just For Men, which works on the color resistant hairs.

Im considering having them professionally done but Im nervous about ending up with eyebrows that look like they were applied with a wax pencil.

@dani_m08 thank you for the ingredient that can cause problems. I remember reading that lash serums can cause the sunken eye problem but didn't remember/know the ingredient that causes it. Now I do, so thank you.

I'm not interested in lash serum but I have the disappearing eyebrow issue too and would like to try something for that. The eye balm that lascatx posted doesn't have that and says all natural. May give that a try.

@dani_m08....I'm wondering how they can get eyebrows to grow in thicker, but hair on our head is still a struggle to fill it in?

@dani_m08 .thanks for sharing your insight on these products!

I've had great success using 5% minoxidil on my head. If you search, you can find before and after photos.

Jsk, I ordered the balm, too. Maybe we can have an eyebrow-growing contest.

I am interested in what you all think of the eye balm. I credit it for helping my lashes return, but I don't really know if something else caused the lash fade and it resolved unrelated to the balm.

I have used the balm directly on my brows a couple of times to control and smooth them when I must have scrunched them on my pillow overnight. It works.

I also tried using it on a mascara brush as I saw in a review. That person wore it in lieu of mascara - darkening the lashes and making them more prominent but still very natural. I like the idea, and I have clean wand brushes, but I need to try it again and see if I can make it quick and easy on repeat.

    Haha! I'm in!
