Any rose can grow without support. If you prefer it upright, just keep tying it in to a support if it starts to spread out.

Yes, mine grows happily without any support. I had originally planned to train it along a low fence, but found the canes too upright. It does spread and arch a little, but still stays more tall than wide. It doesn’t mind being whacked down every year if you need to control growth.

Here’s mine, the fence, which it didn’t need anyway, is gone now because the metal got too hot in the sun..
