Attempted to add a picture from Houzz. Not sure if I did it right but the picture is there! Anyhow, I think this would look nice.

Your kitchen looks really nice so far .....i would add a solid color backsplash tile ....like the above pic added as you already have alot going on with your granite and the sink cupboard door ( which is really nice ) ...don't want it to look too busy. glass subway is nice . lots of plain colors to choose from.

This is what I used and I love it.

Marcha I like your idea!! Subway tile is becoming waaaay over used & is going to end-up like honey oak wood!!! I have found I don't miss having a backsplash--I think many times they end up competing with everything else going on it a kitchen. Personally I think it looks very nice as it. If you get tired of your look--paint is easy & inexpensive to change. Have you thought of maybe hanging some art or crafty metalwork there instead??

Travertine on a diagonal with tight grout lines with grout the same color as tile would compliment your countertops beautifully. I like the idea of the diagonal to tie in with your under sink cabinet door detail.

Subway tile is a classic. It's been around since the early 1900's!

I have travertine in 2 bathrooms.....watch out for staining!! If you use it as a backsplash make sure to seal it on a reg. basis!!! BEAUTIFUL stuff though!!

Charcoal gray tile, glass or ceramic.

Another vote for the subway tile here!! Keep it plain and simple. It looks classy and clean.

I agree with Mitch, there are lots of great glass/ceramic mosaic tiles that would make a clean beautiful back splash without overwhelming the rest of your beautiful kitchen. I've attached a couple examples. Even though the pictures are different colors then I would recommend for your kitchen, they show what I'm referring too.

Gannage, I respectfully disagree with the above images. Just a little too busy for the countertop imo :) (i love mosaic tile too)
