Will Ashley Carianna sofa go?

Trying to make den more cohesive to adjoining breakfast nook/kitchen. Kitchen has agreeable gray walls with honey oak hardwood floors/cabinets, countertops are basically white/ivory granite with flecks of black and taupe. Den has tan carpet & agreeable gray walls and a black fireplace with some shiny brass on it.When I use AI for den colors it suggested cognac sofa as a choice. Do you think the Ashley Carianna sofa with an ivory area rug (with dark charcoal accents in it) will work ok? Note: I did notice the nailheads on sofa are matte brass, not shiny like the fireplace accents. Thoughts? And I will try to figure out how to add a picture to this post! Yay! Picture of Ashley sofa is below.

You'll get no credible responses w/o pictures of the spaces you described.

I repeat AI is not a designer all it does is go on the internet and pic pictures just like we have been doing for years. Post pics of your space here in a comment then get some actual real design help. IMO gray walls and tan rug are the beginning of an odd mix so throwing in cognac into the mix is not working in my head so I need pics please posted here .Is thta sofa actaully your style even ?

If AI is as bad at interior design as it is in landscape design I wouldn’t go by it. Agree with Patricia.

I would not get that very traditional sofa style. Have you read reviews on the leather used on this particular sofa and its durability?

Holland, if you have access to a computer, you may find it easier to enter text. I've been having similar issues with the tablet version of the app lately. It only allows a couple of lines before you can't see what you've entered. Hitting Return can help, but only up to a point.

Ok I have solved my issue with Houzz.

To answer some questions from previous text: We bought house during Covid.

Couldn' t get a decorator out so a Home Stager picked the agreeable gray for the walls & the kitchen granite.

As for the current furniture that was a result of the supply chain issue during Covid  & had to take what I could get .

Anyway, my husband did  not want to have the cabinets painted so I've basically ended up with a smorgasbord. I think my style according to Pottery Barn  is somewhat Modern Farmhouse because I have family antiques here and there so thats why I thought traditional furniture may be best.

The room primarily needs to be comfortable and more cohesive. Its our tv room. Can you think of anything that can economically accomplish that?

Thinking I need a sofa with matching chair and accent chair on empty wall and end tables. I would like a large ottoman instead of cocktail table because we're old!  I'm not overly picky & I really struggle with decorating.  I appreciate you taking the time to offer any suggestions.

You can definitely go with a transitional style for the sofa, giving you a lighter look. Also look for sofas that have narrower arms, so you have a bigger sitting area and aren't wasting sofa length on huge wide arms, specially if your living space isn't huge.

So is the issue more the style of sofa and not the color or is it both?

I don’t think the color works well with your carpet. Are you set on leather?

To answer your question, I was thinking  the leather would be pet friendly. Have 2 cats

Plus I would put a new rug down similar to the one in the sofa advertisement.

Have you had any velvet chairs or sofa previously? I have 3 cats and they're not interested in the velvet. But I imagine leather could be a good alternative too.

As for the velvet suggestion, this is a room that we watch tv and hang out the most with the cats. My thoughts are the cat hair would cling to velvet. The cats will definitely be on this furniture. Thank you for your time & the suggestion.

Well I don't think my reply posted. To answer your question about velvet this is the room that we hang out with the kitties the most so I feel sure they will be in it & would think cat hair would cling to it. Sorry if this is a repeat.

Are your cats declawed (I hope not) but those claws do major damage to leather uless you are really anal on the whole claw trimming . There are some great new fabrics that come from the outdoor faric producers thta stand up really well with pets and kids. As fir style of the sofa that is up tp you but I do advse you go shopping and sit a lot to get what works .
