Can you post pictures of the entire room, all 4 walls? You must get glare on your computer screens having them facing the window.

Is this an office where you work every day? What do you want to keep in the room? What budget do you have in mind for changes? Are you planning to paint? What is your style? Modern, traditional, boho, transitional?

Need to see all four walls + need more information re: what your needs are.

Example, do you need a place for storing files? Do you need a nice looking background for virtual conference calls/meetings?

Are you planning on keeping your current desk?

Is this a separate room - or is it a space that is located within a room that is also used for other things?

ALSO - what is your style? Do you like traditional/modern/transitional/etc.? What colors do you like?

    1. Declutter, everything. Then try to store what you can in what looks like a cabinet. Then figure out if you need more storage pieces.

    2. Decide if your desk is best suited there. It seems the windows would make for glare on the screen and backlighting also isn't good for video/zoom. It seems you don't want to have your back to the center of the room, so could you achieve the same set with your back to a corner where your windows are not located?

    3. Google cord management products. There are tons of them.

    4. The colors of your room are nice. If you like and intend to keep them, then find a rug you like that compliments them. We don't know enough about your taste or styles to recommend anything.

    5. Find large pieces of artwork to hang. When hanging things on the wall, aim for the center of the piece to be at eye level.

Your coworker seems to have a nice bed set up already!

Here are the four walls. Sorry! I was preparing for the work week.

We moved in less than a year ago and we haven’t had time to fix much of anything. Yes, we are planning to paint the whole house. I like clear, clean, illuminated spaces but the office is in the north-west corner, so I don’t really get much light until later in the afternoon.
Budget? I hope to do as much as I can to save $. I’m fairly handy and I don’t mind investing in long lasting and enjoyable items. I’m at the end of my accounting degree and I mostly use the office for homework, but in the not so far future, I want to start my bookkeeping/accounting business from home. Meanwhile, I currently work onsite, so like I said, mostly for homework at the moment.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions/ideas, I’ll read everything.

Oh! I forgot to mention. Because we’ve been moving around so much, I never really invested much in furniture so most of what you see there

Was a gift or free from Facebook marketplace.
I kind of like this desk but I like functional things and I need drawers (which this one doesn’t have) and I have books that I also need to keep around.
Thank you so much again for all of your suggestions!

Congratulations on your new place. Are you renting or buying?

Will this home office be the place where you meet clients once you start your own business? If so, any new things need to be part of that professional office

I prefer the table you have to the corner desk you saw on Marketplace. Spend your money wisely, you're a student now but if you buy anything new, buy it in view of your future office space when you'll have clients coming to see you.

It's difficult to make a proper furniture layout suggestion without having all dimensions of the room including doors and windows, I suggest you start with that before buying anything.

Congratulations on your accounting degree! If you do plan on using the office to meet clients, I'd avoid a corner desk. No one likes to work with their face stuck into a corner. I think your current orientation could work with a desk with better storage. It will also give you the option of adding a chair or two for meeting with future clients. I think the room would definitely benefit from new paint. I have a SW off-white in my north facing bedroom and it's so nice and clean without any undertones. Solar shades would help with glare but still let the light through. You could add curtains to soften the windows as well.

With your future bookkeeping/accounting business, isn't it more likely that you be going to their location, rather than them coming to your office?
