Kitchen Design Help to achieve symmetry

yesterday

Hello,

This is the layout to my kitchen including elevations and renders. What bothers me is the lack of symmetry of cabinets over the range.

There's a singular cabinet on the left side and a pair of cabinets on the right side. Assuming windows are stationary, are there any clever design solves?

Thank you Houzz experts!

Your kitchen’s lack of symmetry is not an issue for me either (and I generally like symmetry).

One alternative could be to remove those cabinets on either side of the hood. Enlarge the width of the windows flanking the hood and move them farther away from the hood. Perhaps enlarge the height of the windows so they go down to the counter.

The range sure looks centered on the wall so it 's rather a mystery why the cupboards aren't symmetrical. When in the real kitchen I wonder what would jump out first the calm of the range being centered or the confusion over the uppers not being same same? When taking in the whole of the space it does feel balanced. One can see symmetry over all.

I feel the symmetry is not the issue either. If you would carry the island accent colour onto the hood it will create an accent which is needed to break up the full stove wall and maybe even an accent coloured tile on the wall behind the stove as well.

I'm with you on symmetry and had to have the builder remove and reframe a window in my kitchen (the sink was under it). I don't have nearly as many cabinets as your kitchen has, so it really stood out. That said, as much as I LOVE symmetry, I really think your kitchen looks great, and it isn't an issue.

There is no symmetry on any of the walls so why an issue here. I actually prefer no wall cabinets on the range wall usually in fact if possible none at all I do like all 36" drawers for pots and pans I can't read the meausremetns on the drawings but the kitchen looks good I do not like legs on isalnd overhangs but I also do not think you need a huge overhang for stools and there are great steel supports for over hangs.

Symmetry includes the mass on the run. The oven stack mass is included. I agree with no uppers, bigger windows, larger hood and a complete lighting plan with task, ambient and decorative elements. All led on dimmers.

I think the issue is that the windows look like they are being crowded by the cabinets/shelves.

Your hood should be wider than your range/cooktop, at least 3" wider on each side.

You have plenty of storage, so give the top half of the kitchen a bit of breathing room.

I skipped the uppers on my sink wall and it really opens up the space. I even did a foam board model to see it in 3D ... I was designing the house during covid and was bored. LOL It also made me realize that the fridge needed to be moved to the end of the run and just as well because that little piece of counter has become my DH's drop zone for vitamins, etc, so at least it is now hidden from view by the fridge

I tiled the full wall around the window, which makes the space, compared to having uppers there.

Chispa you are a hero. I love the scale model.

Thank you so much for everyone's input. You've put my anxiety and unhelpful obsession at ease.
