I am building a roof deck (full sun) and trying to decide whether to use the less expensive Veranda Armor-guard or go for the Trex Transcend. What I understand the difference to be is the PVC coating on Trex Transcend covers all 4 sides, which prevents wood components in the composite from rotting. I am not certain, but I believe the Veranda Armor-guard is sealed on 3 sides (which leaves the underside at risk for the wood components to rot. The Trex Transcend is 50% more and has a 2 week lead time (vs Veranda is available immediately). Does anyone have experience with either product? There is a paint product called Restore that is a rubberized coating that can be applied to pressure treated wood--would sealing the fourth side of the Veranda achieve the same rot protection?
