last modified: last month

Today we are showing part of S dayliles. There are so many In the S category that today will be

Sa through to Si, gonna make you think today 😉

Sailor Sky is among the best all around performers here. Blooms are perfect and abundant. A wonderful late season daylily.

Savannah Debutante has been slow to establish but will stay. The scapes are tall, not sure what the stats claim.

Sea Dragon always catches my eye in the garden. It has been a good performer but last season wasn’t the best.

Simplcity in Motion is another among the best performers here. It was quick to establish and has abundant blooms.

Siloam Bye Lo

Siloam Double Delight. it has been divided many times. A good performer but on the shorter side.

Schnicle Fritz is a nice front of the border plant.

Siloam Ethel Smith is my favorite of the handful of Siloams I have.

Siloam Double Classic

Sailor Sky is always one of my favorites of yours. The color is also one of my favorites. Like South Seas. And what a bright yellow S. Double Delight is...........My one Si is a pretty one with an edge I like:

Nice daylilies! Simplicity in Motion has a very interesting scape. I also like Sea Dragon and Sitting on a Cloud.

I am not sure how I feel about Saberback. I wish it had more teeth.

Sally Sullivan's Painting was new last season. We bought it because it's a reverse bicolor.

Sam Abell is a favorite here.

Samsational has sensational flowers, but the plant hasn't been very vigorous yet.

She's Got the Look is a good example of an edge no eye daylily.

    That's all I have.

Sherry - My favorite of yours is Simplicity in Motion. I love its form! Sailor Sky makes an impressive clump. I got that one as a bonus one year but didn't keep it because I thought it looked too similar to Coral Majority.

Maryl - Sitting On a Cloud is so pretty! How does the color hold up in the heat? I see it has a double dose of Heartbeat of Heaven, and that one washed out horribly when temps were in the 90s. What was your source for that one?

Sherry, I always seeing Sailor Sky; it reminds of of 2 favorites, Coral Majority and South Seas. I also like your Simplicity in Motion. Great color and form.

Maryl, Sitting On A Cloud is beautiful!!! Wonderful colors.

Nancy, Samsational is my favorite of yours.

Scarlett Pimpernel is tall and well budded.

    Sa-Si Daylilies:

Sensational Heart did well last year - not quite as many buds as in Nashville but tall and more fertile. While this evergreen always rebloomed in Nashville, it did not rebloom in Indy.

$exy Samantha was short in its first year here.

$exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious #1 had fewer buds than in Nashville, but it was still quite floriferous. In Nashville it got 17 buds per scape and rebloomed. This semi-evergreen did not rebloom here last season. It's planted in a bad place surrounded by plants with taller foliage. I will probably move it and divide it this year.

$exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious #2 had 13 buds on most scapes, which matched its previous high bud count. It was planted in September because of its evergreen status. I think it will be hardy here. This picture is from a previous year.

$exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious, the dormant sib, multiplied well and had a few more buds than in Nashville. This one is in a better sun position than in Nashville, so I hope its stats will improve even more.

Nan: Samsational is most appealing. Never heard of the hybridizer. Hope the vigor improves for you............Brad: Both your purple seedlings out of Amazing Grace are very pretty. I think I would have to go with number one being my favorite for the color........Debra: You know I enjoy looking at your pinks. My favorite in this batch is SSxBD #2. Nice deeper color.......... Sitting on a Cloud has never been out in full all day sun. As a darker color I know better then that. However it does get full hot sun up until mid afternoon (2-3PM) which is when I usually choose to take pictures. To me the depth of color is still good. This picture then represents what it looks like here from about noon until dark. I don't remember what it looked like in early morning to compare color change..... This came from Cottage Gardens........Maryl

Maryl, I agree on the first purple seedling being the best!

Sherry, Sailor Sky is always lovely in yoir photos. Love the color. Great shot of Simplicity in Motion.

Maryl, you have that color combo down! Sitting on a Cloud is so pretty.

    Nancy, Samsational has great color.

Brad, your seedlings are the winners.

Debra, Sensational Heart is great but your seedlings are the stars. I hope they thrive!

Now let me see if I can keep my letters straight!!

    Shuffle the Deck

As you see, it holds its own in a sea of others!

Sam Abell is getting competition from a shrub

Sarah Christine always wows with the size of its blooms

    Shores of Time

    Second Horizon

Siloam David Kirchoff-did not bloom the last two years due to being decimated by the red bug. I hope I have saved it. I really like this Siloam. I also have S. Amazing Grace but it did not bloom either

Simplicity in Motion is beautiful in the garden when it looks like this

    Sapphire Summer

    Shaman

I put this one in through edit since I had the name on the photo. It appears to have worked

Oh Maryl, I plan to make a post after our alphabet on the cleanup. It is so overwhelming for all impacted. My son still has no internet service. We have frequent outages whenever the wind blows and knocks wedged limbs down on wires. There are massive brush piles along all streets and roads-I should not say brush because there are so many trees in these piles as well. It is so dangerous to try to clean up due to tree tops and limbs still hanging in the trees. The view from my backyard is horrible and until the danger of falling limbs is past, I am not going in there and not allowing anyone else to do so either!!

Probably lots more than you wanted to know but thanks for asking!!

I like the following: SAILOR SKY, SAMSATIONAL, $exy Samantha X Bubblegum Delicious #2, SILOAM AMAZING GRACE and Brad's SAG X IG seedlings. SHAMAN also jumps out at me. One of these days, I will have to add SILOAM AMAZING GRACE to the collection.

    SHORES OF TIME

    SHE'S LIKE A RAINBOW

    SEARS TOWER

    SCARLET MARIE

    SCOTT FOX

    SILOAM WILLIAM PRYOR

SAW TOOTH RIDGE: Left the garden this past year. Bud count was poor and not vigorous.

    SCINTILLATION

SALTY SKIPPER: An outstanding Bennett intro

    SCREAMCICLE

    SHOWTIME MAGIC: reliable rebloomer

SITTING COOL: One of my favorite Bennett intros

    SAM ABELL

SECRET FAMILY RECIPE: Relatively new to the garden and I really like it.

    SCARPIA

SEA SHANTY: A 2025 intro from Derrow. I like it.

    SILOAM LOUISE WATTS

SILOAM APPLE BLOSSOM: One of the parents of SILOAM LOUISE WATTS

    SILOAM MELVIN'S YELLOW

SAMWISE THE BRAVE: Not Edward Abbey. My friend sent me the wrong plant.

Here is the only one from COTTAGE GARDENS:

    Debra,

Mike is not introducing any this year, as he had cardiac issues in the fall and did not get a chance to clean up his gardens and line out clumps. He said that he is spending this coming season getting things organized. He will have many plants to offer next year at some good prices.

David - Thank you for the info on Mike Derrow! I would love to get Shores of Time from you! I do like Wren's Song too, but I don't have room for it at this time. Let me know if you want to sell or trade Shores.

Mantis - SSam #2 is 26 inches tall. Number 1 was 28-29 inches tall in Nashville, but was short here last season because it was planted in late October. Number 4 is the shortest at 22 inches.

Mantis - I do like the blue tones in the eye of Sea World. I added that one in the fall and the seller gave me several fans. I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom this year. Seventy Times Seven makes a pretty peach clump!

Mantis, Sea World is a beautiful color!! Looks like a great plant too. My Scarlet Pimpernel has been very prolific--perhaps the climate difference. I also like Scales of Justice.
