I believe the Octopus info, they are extremely intelligent and resourceful you would learn from he documentary “My Octopus Friend”.

An excellent film. I will show my leaves in the forum.

I think the octopus looks grumpy 😝..

the diagonal sandwiches are pretty..but with lots of ingredients (especially lettuce, tomatoes, onion) they're hard to cut..

I haven't peeked under my leaf litter but I doubt if I have pips..

    debra..great photos..

    Wheee..mismatched leaves..

    3 more that don't match..NOIDs

Great pics Pieter and Ann. I try to make an effort to always get leaf pics every summer, but never manage to get them all.

Ann, I would separate those two Whee eyes as they look sooo different. Who knows, maybe you have a “new” hosta!

Paula happy your season has started. It is mid 50's today but then going back to freezing temps. I still have over 2 ft. of snow. Yes that is one grumpy looking octopus.

Fabulous leaf shots everyone! I do think even the oldest, most common have charm when they are ready for their close up. Of course we all go for the fancy!

    debra..WhooWhee is a great name 😂..

Laurie..seeing The King reminds me of Steve (from Ohio?)..he had one and loved it..I see why..it's lovely..my cold temperatures aren't over either..this happens every spring..my plants start growing..the leaves are new and perfect..then we have a spring freeze 🙄..it doesn't kill my plants but I'd love it if the weather was nice and steady 😉..

Laurie, you have some great leaf pics! I love the bumpy ones, Christmas Tree, Powder Blue and the one underneath Powder Blue, whatever that one is.

Ann yes I recall Steve having The King. I love it too! The ups and downs of temps are a real pain. Last year we had a long really chilly spring and then right into sweltering heat. It would be wonderful if it were that nice steady transition. We will see what this year brings!

Thanks Debra you too! The ones unfer Powder Blue are 3 shots of Powder Keg.

Laurie..I moved here March 2005..in May my neighbor participated in a hosta tour..we had a frost coming..she wanted to keep her hostas perfect..she covered her entire yard with sheets of all patterns and colors..I didn't have a smart phone then..I wish I had a picture of it..it was so colorful..it would be fun to show all of you..my lot is much bigger than hers..her back line is 33 feet..mine is 211..I don't cover anything..I leave the leaf litter for a long time and hope for the best..
I spent yesterday clipping ratty hellebore leaves and removing some leaf litter..

Lol Ann that patchwork quilt must have been something to behold! Leaf litter is so good for so many reasons. I find in some areas the slugs are bad from it but I have never seen any evidence of that on yours. You are so lucky to be able to be doing yard work. I have narrow strips around parts of the house, not enough to slog through snow to get to them to do anything.

Laurie..this "heat wave" is temporary but I love it!..my current temperature..

it'll be higher as the day goes on..I'm going out soon to work on my hellebores..

I think my neighbors are foolish..they hire people that walk through everything to blow leaves in the fall AND early spring..also in the spring they pay them to throw mulch everywhere..this might sound conceited but I think my plants look prettier than theirs..

    update..temperature is up to 71 🙂..

Nice seeing all the leaves up close, there is so much detail in each leaf I tend to miss when looking at the whole plant. Loved seeing the hellebore too. Such a wonderful sight of spring.
