A square rug might be a good choice for this area.

I would just do a mat at the front door and nothing else. If your climate is mild, I would even go with a door mat outside the door and nothing inside.

The whole area does not need to be covered with an area rug. That is why they installed tile there!

You have enough going on in that area with tile, carpet and color-blocked walls.
