Window trim colour

last month

My window is a colour called espresso, very dark brown. I’m not crazy about the white trim around it. Can I paint the trim and casing the same colour as the window or does it have to match the white baseboards?

I know it’s not a great pic but the house is still in construction… the floors are dark hardwood and this is the dining room.

I wouldn't want the trim in that espresso color. You chose brown for the interior color of your windows, so I would just accept the look and not let it bother you.

wait and get a better shot of the entire area, floors, and the whole window.

yes you can paint the window trim separate from the baseboards.

you could paint the trim the same as the wall color if you like. (or even paint the baseboards too)

    really no exact rule.

you can do the trim in white

or, paint the trim to match the windows (both of these they did brown baseboards too)

Here is another pic, I’m having trouble with all these colours and if it keep the trim white, what colour drapery would you use. The walls are BM sea salt

Since we have no idea of what your furniture is, or any other colors you have in rugs, etc, it is very hard to say a color for the draperies. You could match them to the sea salt walls.

As your walls are Sea Salt, paint your window trim and baseboards Sea Salt or Barely There in a slightly higher sheen and call it a day.

Don't worry about your drapes until after you move in.

I know you're doing your best, but as your photos are backlit, the walls and trim look dark grey, and the floor looks darker grey. And on top of that, computer monitors don't render color reliably. We can't see on our screens what you see in person.

Your investment in the windows is a huge one and they can be the inspiration for how to choose to decorate the rooms. I love brown, so I would do all the trim, including the baseboard, in brown. Make sure of the match.

Drapes to match the wall color.

I find that doing black trim with black windows feels heavy - somethimes heavier than others.

With dark walls white can be too bright and too much contrast.

With light or mid toned neutral walls I like either white or a matching trim that is just a haiir lighter than the wall color:

What white did you use for trim? I know that BM pairs Sea Salt with Chantilly Lace, but I find CL a bit too cool and bright, preferring a softer white like White Dove with Sea Salt.

It may be that the white you selected for trim is too cool and bright with Sea Salt.
