Do you need a space to work from home? You have lots of width and two go walls for a tv. IKEA has sectionals ottomans as table and sofas. Some with seat cushions with pocketed springs.

This isn't so much about designing your set-up as more basic shopping advice. If you don't need it, ignore it; maybe someone else will benefit!

There's an Ikea in Brooklyn, and other than thrifting (which is a perfectly good way to shop, I've done a lot of it), they're probably your best bet for relatively inexpensive "starter home" furniture. I'm not a fan of Ikea's lighting options, but otherwise I've had Ikea furniture last a really long time and look good doing it.

A lot of folks on this site like Room and Board and Arhaus. I've never purchased from them, so can't vouch for them personally. I'd avoid Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel, both of which used to be reliable but no longer are. PB's customer service is notoriously awful. IMO, West Elm furniture looks great, but isn't well constructed.

Almost all the big chains are pushing sad beige mid-century modern knockoffs. Ikea at least has genuine Scandinavian roots! Shop carefully there, though, because returning items to them is a royal pain in the neck.

Measure, measure, and measure again. Make sure that whatever you buy will fit in the elevator or going up the stairs as the case may be, and can go through your front door and any corners after that.

My first apartment was furnished with stuff I brought from "home." After that, I bought a lot from stores that no longer exist, or—like Pottery Barn—aren't what they used to be. And Ikea, which was brand new to the US when I first shopped there! Now I have mostly vintage items. And I've collected them over quite a few years. And like my furniture, I'm not old—I'm mid-century modern!

Tovala. Check it out. The oven sits on your counter, but also, it does a lot of other things. It bakes, it toasts, it broils, it steams and it is an air fryer. (Think Trader Joe's). Tovala runs a special once in awhile where the oven is free if you agree to sign up for meal delivery for so many weeks or months. Can't remember the specifics. The oven can cook two meals at once...just in case you want to impress a friend. Choices are yummy. So, back to your space. Table and chairs near the kitchen. In the corner?

Sofa, two chairs, coffee table, and I like the way this striped rug runs the eye toward the balcony. Take advantage of that small space as well.

For the design, what style are you looking for? How often will you have guests (if any)? Any pets? Do you want a certain color palette or just anything warm?

As a born and bred Bklynite- ( left more than 40 !!!years ago) , I have to say that is an amazingly spacious apartment. I have no decor advice but enjoy.

SF design that layout is very tight for a dining table positioned behind the sofa. Not to mention would be hard for lamps near the sofa. You may want to show the TV backing to the kitchen with the sofa where the TV is and then that opens up the middle more for circulation between the sitting area and (small) dining area. I’d want to know if a desk is needed for working from home? There may be room to float a see through bookcase off the bedroom wall to create a little hallway by the bathroom.

Thinkdesign , you are correct in the image it definitely looks tight, but the image was rough and doesnt show measurements/distance properly. He will have more than enough space to push the sofa closer to that tv wall and push a dining table against the wall possibly and have dinner that way. I will try to update with a design.
