Life does indeed have a way of doing that, Sherry!! Undercurrent looks like it likes its new digs!

Had two nights of freezing temps-one night was 22 degrees so that was enough to zap the peaches once again. Daffodils were almost all done anyway. Will have to wait to see what other damage was done. Daylilies were up and flourishing but I see this every year-they will have damaged foliage but will bounce back.

Not many in this category for me.

Vanishing Mist is a gorgeous bloom when it looks like this which is rare-it is usually very splotchy

Unshakeable Kingdom-not this season-It is in a bed that needs to be totally redone and is on my spring to do list-few plants are doing well in that bed

Not a daylily but still a ”V”. I love violas and plant them instead of pansies. Nothing fazes them-not ice or snow or freezing temps.

Sherry, Undercurrent is indeed beautiful! I also like Umber Ella and Vanishing Mist.

I love the violas! We plant them every year. We had several pots on the porch when our cold nights hit. They looked terrible the next day but have perked right up. I prefer them over pansies too.

Venus Flytrap

Several years ago everyone seemed to want Victorian Garden Star Bright. We purchased it but it turned out to be Serena Darkhorse. Finally we got it, but, to tell you the truth, it has been a disappointment. It doesn't seem to grow very well and this flower is the only photo-worthy one we have seen. If it looked this this all the time on a decent plant, I would keep it, but when it's time to redo that bed, it will probably go.

Sherry, no problem in being late! We are thankful you do this. Your Undercurrent is very nice.

We had 2 nights and 2 days of incredibly cold weather [probably when everyone else did], teens, high winds. Surprisingly the daffodils for everyone survived as did the tulips. The redbuds backed off briefly but are starting up again. Kate, I am sorry about the peaches, I know how disappointing that can be. We had a couple of peach and plum trees when we moved here but often the frost took them out. Your Vatican City is pretty, and I like the violas. At a glance I did think they were pansies. Since they are so hardy, I think I will pant some!

Maryl, Umber Ella is nice! Nancy, Vision Seeker is my favorite of yours. Debra, Unbound is indeed gorgeous!

VT The Last Melon worked well to hybridize with. I crossed it with Carmen Renee and the seedlings have one of the highest bud counts of my seedlings.

Nan: Those black scapes get me every time. How very unique...........Brad: VT Fondly Kin is a pretty shade of Lavender. You do the lavenders so well. The one that always catches my eye is Vt Autumn Fires. I finally looked it up and saw it was from 1951. Talk about an oldie but goldie. I love the color orange. I wonder if it is colorfast/sunfast. Maybe some year I'll find out...........Maryl

Kate - I really like VOILA FRANCOIS. Doubt it would do well here.

Nancy - I am surprised that VG STAR BRIGHT does not do well for you. It is a favorite in my garden.

Maryl, VT Autumn Fire has a lot going for it: it is sunfast, has nearly 30 buds on many scapes [some only have 20], by the time it is done bud building, is extra late.

David, I really like UP TEMPO. A very nice color. The Voice of Truth is also pretty [from the group Casting Crowns?].

That is my favorite song by Casting Crowns, so I had to have it. If you go to Karol Emmerich's website, she has a link telling customers about the names of her plants, and she noted VOICE OF TRUTH came from the Casting Crown's song. Karol and I had an email exchange about the name, the song and the band.

Maryl I do like the name of that daylily! Nancy and David, Vision Seeker shines in both gardens! David, my Up Tempo died so it was good to see yours.

Debra, Unbound is lovely. Hopefully it will multiply more. I was looking at two this morning that still have only two fans after three years.

Brad, your seedlings look wonderful. I like the color on VT Fondly Kin. I think you would enjoy the violas. I tried to mass plant an area this year but my cats decided this was a great playground for them this winter and disrupted my display!!

Another V-while I was assessing more damage from the ice storm behind my house I saw the violets have started blooming in the woods. These common violets or wood violets are pretty but can be very invasive so they are confined to the very back part of my yard next to the woods.

Kate - The first year I had Unbound it multiplied from two fans to three, and it's still three after three years. But I have set seed on it the past two years. For some plants, that can affect multiplying.

I was busy weeding over the weekend and was totally exhausted. Top banes of the garden: any running grass, nettle, creeping charlie, wild strawberry, sedum, wild onion. chickweed. Sunday was the hottest day EVER in March (since records began) in Columbus at, as I recall, 87. Dropped fifty degrees today, and I felt it.

Una de Gato looks interesting. Someone on Facebook posted a very saturated picture of it, which I am sure is misleading. What do you think of it, Nancy? The VT seedlings have some nice colors. Umber Ella, I see, is out of Wyoming Wildfire, which can be quite nice here, but not totally happy in the cold. Voila Francois less happy. The Voice of Truth pic looks very close in color to Karol's pic (unlike some other renditions).

Korth's Velvet Hammer can be a very showy flower. First year, perfect, but then some blooms with splotchies.

Todd's Victoria Josephine is tall, airy, elegant, and playful.

Victorian Gardens Starbright can take a while to establish.

Hanson's Viagra Falls was divided last year.

Davisson's Uppity Girls is tall.

Hanson's Vulcan Logic can vary in performance.

Emmerich's Vision of Things to Come is tall. Color, as I recall, can vary a bit.

Victorian Lace is reliable.

Via Dolorosa, an Emmerich. Like many reds, it does not like extended sun.

Gossard's Vampire Fish is certainly toothy. Tall and upfacing. But I like them to look at me, not the sky.

Vampire Bat is quite dark, and I have grown to like it.

Vision Seeker has an almost perfect plant. I do hope that Mike gets some good progeny.

Upgrade didn't perform as well the past summer.

I too have never seen Vatican City nicer (June rains).

Vertical Horizon has taken a while to recover from division (not this year's photo).

Concerning Unbound, I have found that some Hansens survive here, but just add a fan every two years or so.
