Paint kitchen cabinets

last month

Trying to update kitchen in beach house. Really dated. What cabinet color other than white would you recommend? Should I replace backsplash and floor? Trying to avoid buying cabinets

Context is key. Many things go into your decision and you have really offered nothing in the way of info. Post up some pics.

I did post pics. Wondering if they need approval?

Actually, your cabinet color is very back in style again. I would leave them as is. Instead, get new white counters and cut the tall breakfast bar down to counter height. Get new lights, stools, and chairs. Your kitchen can easily look current with these changes.

I would change the tile floors first, then counters and backsplash, before I thought about painting the cabinets.

Also get rid of one set of the UFO lights.

I had to blow up your photo to see any details on the cabinets. Cannot tell from the image if they are actually wood.

Here are some modest Before and After Kitchen images.

My sister had her cabinets refaced and kept the existing granite.

It took two days. The company was running a special promotion and she only paid $5k for the service.

Kendrah, the cooktop is on the island, so the raised bar is a good thing.

Sin-d Bull, my reaction to your photo was "those cabinets already look beachy!" It's impossible to tell on a computer screen, but if they read as pink/peach in real life as they do on my monitor, I could see where that would get tiresome.

I understand the desire for tile floor in a beach house (no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't keep all the sand out of our lake cabin). But add in the tile backsplash and stools and chairs, and you have a lot of tan/brown going on. White walls, white ceiling, white blinds, white light fixtures - I would love to see more color in the space.

The floors are the WORST offender possible. The counters are the second. The lighting is the third. The cabinets do not even make the list. They are a great beachy neutral, just waiting to be set off by better companions.
