Here is my table. No wine glasses because we’re eating at noon, and then my boys are driving back to school.

We’re having Honey Baked Ham, potatoes au gratin, asparagus sautéed with butter, cracked pepper and a touch of soy sauce. My mother will bring dessert. Water, iced tea, and sparklng pink lemonade to drink.

We are having brunch : honeybaked ham, biscuits (I made three dozen last week and froze them), baked apple French toast, bacon, sausage (some like one, some the other), pineapple and three types of berries with a honey lime drizzle, marinated green beans and cherry tomatoes and a trifle of limoncello panettone, lemon curd and ginger, and whipped cream and marscapone. Everybody’s favorites, i am not even pretending to serve a balanced meal. We’re eating at 10:30 to accomodate DS2’s fiance’s family Easter schedule, which means we’ll be at the 8:30 am mass 😵‍💫 We’ll have our traditional family egg fight, then an easter egg hunt for the boys. Afterwards I expect we will all sit around in a diabetic coma until we wake up or someone calls 911.

No tablecloth this year, I am using these heavy cotton placemats almost like rugs…better for the kids. Those potted hydrangeas will be planted on Monday.

I have a variety of Jay Wilifred cabbage leaf bowls, some green above and some green and lavender (3rd picture)

Trifle and easter treats will go on the sideboard. DS2 did not make it down in time to get allthe Easter decor out of the basement storage so I had to make do with what I have easily accessible. The toile bunny plates and cake stand (and a serving bowl) are a treasured birthday gift from my oldest friend.

DH is cooking, he says it’s a frittata, maybe crepes (savory? sweet?) fruit, potatos au gratin, rolls, green salad. Sparking water, beer, rose, Pellegrino, and mimosas. Fanny May Chocolate.

DH will do it all because I am at church till noon. One brother isn’t sure he will make it at all, certainly won’t be in time for brunch (travel issues) but I set his place anyway.

Easter and Mother’s Day are the meals I get to use the pink-flowered Carmen by Noritake from my Grandmother. It was her ”good china” when she got married in about 1922, and became her ”everyday” when the war was over, the kids grown up, and the new ”country house” could be built and became home.

It’s so springtime!

Bpath I love that china pattern, it definitely sings of spring! I have a set of Haviland dinner plates with pink and green flowers that I would normally use for Easter but the boys are still not tamed enough to use fine….well, anything really.

Kswl, when the kids were little I had sets of Beatrix Potter and Else Bledsoe in melamine (still in the basement in case there are grands, someday?).

The miniature book/card is adorable! better than a basket! (we don’t do baskets anymore)

I love everyone’s table settings, and those leaf bowls!

We are not having guests but i still enjoyed using family pieces from years past as my penisula centerpiece.
