you can add a schluter® tile edging, or tape off bothe floorings and use a flexible caulk (if caulking, I'd use a brown one to match the wood rather than the tile since you already have a tile edge)

a wood transition piece should have been used, (or a T molding) stained to match the wood floor.

I can't believe the tile guy put that thin piece in between the wood and tile and called it a day. it's a tripping hazard! he needs to remove that and redo correctly

Talk to the person who did the tile work and make them do it as you wanted If of course you had that in writing. If not then you still need it done so see if they can do it with a decent price .

The tile should have been "floated" so that it was completely level with the wood floor. If done properly you don't need any transition strips.

The transition should occur under the door slab, so that may affect your choices.

If the wood is flush and tile edging is chosen, the wood flooring planks should not butt end into it. At minimum, a "picture frame" should be adjacent to the tile edge.

Adding a wood transition, with what looks like about only 1/8" out of level, would probably want the wood planks cut back and a tapered transition placed.

There are a few solutions, depending on your appetite for demo and the door slab location.

@Beth H. : I didnt know that I liked that transition until I saw our transition. We spoke to the contractor and he said that he’ll have his guys fix it by removing some tiles leading up to the transition. Just not exactly what he had in mind. I like the photo I added but would also be open to a ’side strip’ like in the photo with B&W floor.
