PUMAs sneakers

last month

An add for these sneakers ran along side my email today, and I wear PUMA pretty much exclusively because of the sizing, so I checked them out.

I was surprised to find that they are marketed to men, at least it's men wearing them in the link I opened. And not only that most sizes especially in the pale blue are sold out, with a lot of the smaller sizes going to women I'd think, but most of the larger sizes are gone as well, with the brown not lagging far behind--at full price $110. Usually PUMA only sells out completely when on sale. I just need regular sneakers, I can't have designs that are too specific. I would imagine some parts of the country would like to legislate against these in large sizes.

    I like the brown.

I want the blue! Are PUMAs comfortable? I’ve never worn them.

Those are so pretty! I still haven't worn my/Jillys leopard sneakers so I am not allowed.

Looks like both colors are sold out online. I really like the print of the blue ones but don't wear patterned sneakers.

(It took me decades to buy a pair that weren't white, so maybe when I am 100 I will have come around, lol.)

Pumas are what got me back to actually wearing sneakers. I tried one pair like 15 years ago(?) and they were so comfy. I now pretty much gravitate to Puma because they tend to fit me properly. I've been getting the non fancy ones at Costco or TJM mostly.

I was just commenting the other day though that this latest pair I have is not quite the same fit wise as I am used to.

I only go for basic so I would admire those florals on anyone else but moi. I think I prefer the darker ones.

Very interesting. (and if anyone else is a fan of the brand I'm curious if something has shifted with the fit lately. For me it has.

I would love to spot a man wearing those! There a lots of women who wear larger sizes and have to buy men's, so a lot of those sales may have gone to them. Or maybe Puma only made small lots to see if they sold?

I don't think I have a pair of Puma's for some reason. I don't think I like that wide white stripe down the side for me. I like the brown color better, but not crazy about either pair. I wouldn't wear them. I don't personally know any men that would wear them.

I love the look of Pumas and really like those blue ones. I bought some Pumas many years ago and they blistered my heels something fierce so I never really wore them. I certainly wouldn't have expected those patterns to be marketed to men, but styles are ever changing, so why not.

My uncle had Pumas in 13 colors, to go with any outfit. But they were by no means the only shoes he wore. Although he was gay, and very out, I can imagine him looking at these and thinking - nope, too gay for me.

I think they are lovely, no matter who wants to wear them. Gender has never meant much to me. I like that society is catching up to the way I have always felt inside - man, woman, something else - who gives a damn?

    Those are cool.

I love my leopard Pumas (Jilly shoes, as per Mtn). :D

There are lots of types of sneakers in my closet for athletic activities, exercise, casual wear, etc, and the Pumas are my favorites.

”I would imagine some parts of the country would like to legislate against these in large sizes.”

Lots of cowboys down here wear dressy shirts with flowers on them, and lots of tooled leather products (boots, belts, saddles, knives, wallets, bridles) are made with floral designs. Conchos on saddles and custom belt buckles are traditionally made with a floral design, too.

I don’t personally know any men who would wear these particular shoes, but not because of the flowers. I think it’s more the style of them.

My DD wears size 10-11 in sneakers.

I don't think I know any men who would wear these shoes because of my age.

I don't know how old you are, but I can see plenty of dandies in awesome track suits with those shoes.

@Jennifer Hogan - Thanks for the great historical perspective.

Kendrah you are probably right but I think younger guys are wearing things that play with gender norms more casually or as less of a statement than older guys who are as you say, dandies.

I went to a wedding last fall that was attended by an amazing group of young people. The couple was a straight/heterosexual couple, both engineers and both leaders in the furry community. The wedding was Disney themed and most of the guests were furries. Some straight, some LGBTQ, all well educated, exceptionally intelligent young people and all absolute non-conformists.

I don't think any one of these young people (male or female) would have bulked at wearing flowered sneakers or thought twice about someone else wearing them.
