fireplace position is split 50/50!

We recently remodeled and are still furnishing and doing small projects. We are finally ready to install our cast stone fireplace and built ins. We have a tricky room where the blank wall is 15 feet long, the adjacent wall is 18 feet long, and the wall opposite the blank is 11 feet long. Should a fireplace be centered to the couch and viewing area, or to the wall? Would you add more furniture (such as swivel chairs and small table) and get a bigger area rug if you do center it to the wall? Would that impede the walkway from mudroom to hallway? Surprisingly, everyone I’ve asked in my small circle who I believe have a good eye have been split 50/50 on placement! Please be kind about design decisions, decor, tv use, etc. I’m just looking for best use of space long term in this home. We have four little kids and it’s our forever home, hopefully. Sorry to include my robot mop map, it’s the best I have for dimensions 😆 Thank you!

^ agree - fwiw I’d be tempted to do a long run of low closed storage on that wall for toys etc, also keeps the TV in a comfortable position - really a pretty space , great light!

The rug is 9x13. Here are some AI images of the wall with general idea, although I don’t think it’s getting dimensions completely accurate. The fireplace center would be about a foot to the left of the area rug center, if that makes sense.

I had a friend suggest centering it on the entire wall, swapping the rug direction and putting two swivel chairs opposite the window couch. That would be somewhat in the “walkway” but I’m not sure if that’s a design no-no or if using that large hardwood floor space for more seating would actually be beneficial. We do love to host, and we have four young kids!

You are planning so the TV is over the fireplace? Side by side is a better look, which would say not centered on the wall. My issue with using the couch a piece that will change over time, to decorate around a piece that will be set FOREVER is illogical.
