Flooring depends on what other flooring is in rooms surrounding your kitchen, how large the space is, how much light, what type of flooring materials are you considering.

without a photo and layout, my first thought would be Maple.

Sounds dramatic, a great contrast would be my choice.

a visit to a flooring store w a drawer front or sample of your wood is helpful. as there are LVP tiles [slate?] ...lvp plank in all tones and look a like wood species .....actual prefinished hardwood in a huge number of options . what floor material butts to the kitchen ? is kitchen a lg or smallish space.?

I am a big fan of thin brick veneer paired with cherry cabinets. Is that something you would consider?

Not long ago, a reno with cherry, dark counters. The flooring was already typical select red oak, which was (in reno,) extended to a living room, dining room, family room. Soffit removed, a new island, ( painted finish, green doesn't show in this lighting ) and looming soffit that was over a weirdly configured island, also removed,. It depends, is my point.

All was part of a lot of updates. , not ripping a perfectly good floor that was already in kitchen, foyer, and a hallway as well.

What type of flooring are you wanting and do you have to consider adjoining rooms? Without seeing your kitchen and only based on your black counter, I’d choose light/warm flooring, a color coordinated backsplash and paint the walls to suit. The cabinet shade below may be off, but hope the feel helps. Think this is your granite.
