inside of cabinets

I am putting in flat front
warm brown cabinets. My cabinet guy wants to put maple melamine on the inside of the cabinets. I was thinking a color closer to the outside of the cabinets would be better, look richer. Your thoughts??

Will the cabinet doors be glass?

I like the inside of my cabinets to be white.

Does "warm brown" cabinets = painted warm brown OR do you mean stained warm brown cabinets? Stained wood cabinets typically have the same finished wood on the inside.

It seems like many painted cabinets have maple melamine on the inside (unless someone pays extra to have them finished differently). The maple melamine is used to look like natural maple wood - but is less expensive than using real maple veneer (plus, my understanding is that the melamine wears well). I've also seen white interiors used with painted cabinets.

Painted cabinets with glass doors will have the interiors finished with something other than the maple melamine - (i) white (in order for what's inside the cabinets to be seen better), (ii) painted to match the exterior of the cabinets, or (iii) painted with a "pop" of color.

The outside of cabinet is stained Alder wood. I do have two glass cabinets which will have the matched stained alder wood on the interior. I just think the wood look melamine will look nicer on the inside instead of maple. I am attaching a picture of the wood with the maple inside. Should I spend a little more to have it all look like wood inside??

Functionally, lighter or white is nice inside. Easier to see. My cabinets came with dark interiors and I changed them to white. On the cheap with contact paper as it was to be just until we remodeled, still waiting for the remodel

I have stained birch cabs, now 10+ yo. The insides are maple, as you have. I wouldn’t want the insides to match the medium dark cabinets. The lighter wood makes it easier to see whatever is stored in the cabs.

Quite frankly, once the kitchen was finished, I’ve never taken much notice of the insides of the cabs, except for if they needed cleaning. Nobody coming into your kitchen, is going to be checking how the insides of your cabinets are finished. Save your money.

Maple is a wood look melamine.

A lighter color -- white or maple, makes the inside of the cabinet lighter making things inside easier to see.

Lighter inside so you can see items and see spills that need to be cleaned up.
