I originally bought twisted 100% cotton rope for crafts / macrame cord - high strength, natural, untreated, unbleached, undyed 1/2" x 100' spool. I unwound the twisted rope because I likes the textured look of the coiled rope. It eventually lost its coil and straightened out. I took a length of rope that was about 16' long and doubled it. The loop in the midpoint was looped over a rod (like you start in macrame). Then you pull the ends through the loop and let them dangle freely down. I tied knots in the bottoms of each rope for weight. The breeze flows through this without the ropes blowing in on us as we sit on the sofa. Curtains were driving us crazy at first by doing just that.
