I need to see the bed and the space . My gut says 60" but only a guess. Post pics of the bed here at least and of the space even better. BTW no rules just how something looks in the space .

I agree that photos of the bed and the space will help. 12" difference in height of the headboard will completely change the look of the bed, so which one is a better proportion for the bed and the space?

There is no rule, just different design choices.

My 70"H Jonathan Adler headboard looked great in my previous house with 9 ft ceilings and also looks great in my new house with 12 ft ceilings.

Thanks everyone! The room is 12.5 x 12.5. Ceilings are 9 ft. Here is the room without furniture—sorry it is the only one I have with new floors and paint. No tray ceilings, etc.

We have a king bed (which I know is big for this room, but we don’t lounge or watch TV in our bedroom, so sleep comfort is our priority). Bed goes along the back wall parellel to the window. .

We don’t replace funriture often to I prefer plain and classic. For the finishes: I was leaning toward the light oak finish for nightstands because it is the same tone as our floors, but I wonder if i should pull the darker stain to compliment our door trim? Or is that too ”heavy” for this small space? We‘d like to keep the lines clean and simple since the space is small. TIA!

Given the size of the room, I’d choose the one with legs for a less heavy/more airy feel.

I don’t think 9ft/60” will be an issue as long as the nightstands and lamps create a nice balance overall.

Are you planning on using a box spring or will you use it like a platform bed? How thick is your mattress? The 60" looks like it will work in either case but I agree with Maureen that the bed with legs will look more airy in that size space. I also think the wood trim gives a nice relief from all the fabric.

Would you do the lighter wood that is the same tone as my floors? Or would you do the darker wood that coordinates with my door trim and doors? There is also a leather option!
