Pure White cabinets, struggling with Wall Color

last month

We are getting SW Pure White kitchen cabinets and I am struggling with the wall color. Considering Aesthetic White and Zurich White. In my home lighting, Zurich White offers a more subtle contrast with the PW cabs and Aesthetic White provides more contrast and warmth. I tend to gravitate toward less contrast but am wondering whether it's better to bring more warmth to the room. I can't provide photos because the drywall is still wet and I have to make a decision tomorrow. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

pick zurich white and I might lighten it by 20%...they can do that.

Chispa: Good point. My Pure White swatch looks bluish on my wall for some reason when the cabinet sample doesn't. I take your point as not much wall space is going to be exposed. It wouldn't take much to re-paint if we HAD to.

Herbflavor: That sounds really lovely! I might ask about that!

Another idea is a cream (BM navajo white) but hard to know without knowing floors etc - i’m with chispa, walls are easy to repaint so try not to worry too much

Navajo White has quite a bit of warmth, a wee little peachy effect in the white.

I would paint same S>W as your cabinets, and if you need a change? You change later.

None of us know your exposure, how much natural light. None of us know what other rooms are contiguous.

We get asked for these "minimal contrast" suggestions all the time. There need not BE a contrast, which often just chops the look when the wall space is minimal. If you want it when finished? Do it when finished, When the lighting is in place, when the cabinets are installed, when the tops are on those cabinets...........

There is no way to get a fail safe answer from us, and that is nothing but ......truth.: )

Those whites are terrible beige and will look worse against a beautiful white. Why white? Try a very pale color--your favorite. It will not look like an attempted match and a fail that way.

I often advocate for walls and cabinetry to be painted the same color in a kitchen. Flat for walls and semi-gloss for cabinets. It provide continuity and there shouldn't be a lot of difference in how each is effected by lighting, etc.

arcy_gw...those two colors coordinate with my floor & countertop. That is why they were selected.

Jan Moyer: Fair point...which is probably why I'm struggling with the decision. Thanks!

The all white look, often feels very cold and unwelcoming to me. I would pick a pale color. One of y our favorite colors.

    The real issue..........

What is the actual flooring ?

What is the actual counter top? Brand, name, quartz or other?

What is everything including a cad drawing of the layout?

    Mysteries all...........: )

Pure White can pull yellow...go with a cooler color on the wall, a perfect coordinate for Pure White. It looks good with marble look counters and notice this color floor used with the wall color.

My question is why the rush?? If the drywall is still wet today, they shouldn't be painting tomorrow.

Personally - I do not like white on white. I prefer a color - subtle blues or greens or even gray. I feel like the whites are always off and then somehting doens't look right.

Was thinking this link might be helpful. You’ll see her comment…”The best white trim or cabinet color OR the best wall color if you have Pure White trim and cabinets is…Pure White.”

    Pick anything but white .

This is exactly why I do not like white kitchens and bathrooms. It is so easy and obvious to paint the cabinets and wall color the same exact paint but different gloss level as recommended by @Norwood Architects but what about the backsplash and countertops? Such agony! Who needs it?

I believe the point was made to FOR NOW..don't agonize, match cabinets.. Paint is any time, any color.....

It a mystery as to what actual anything are in the space.
