Try a deeper red

I think the red looks great. I doubt it's going to make much of a difference in the price. IMO, the gray is pretty dreary and the bright red door lifts the mood.

I'd paint the front door the same soft gray/blue of the trim and remove the shutters.

The gray will blend with the brickwork around the door and removing the shutter will clean up the exterior. Just neutralize the look for selling purposes.

This seller won't remove the shutters - too much trouble and not sure what it will look like behind them. But, thanks regardless for your input!

I would go with black door

Keep the door just like it is. It makes the house look happier and a lot more inviting, than some dark gloomy color. The trim looks good, the way it is too.

I tend to agree and would be inclined to do the same with the garage door. The black garage ”wall” pulls a lot of focus.

I realize the seller wants to keep the shutters. As a buyer I’d want them gone, but certainly not a deal breaker.

Anything but that …. something softer, more subtle.

This ugly overpruned shrub is a much worse offender than the color of the front door. It hides the front door, it’s ill-shaped, and hangs over the driveway! Remove it asap.

Then tidy up the flowerbed and powerwash the driveway and call it good.

I’d go softer/complement the house and the door’s surround (similar to the shades below). The overall house and property is what should create the initial first impression.

Suggest to your wife's client the shutters have to go...say they cheapen the look of the house...which is very true. Power wash the driveway. Yard is from hunger. Get rid of all the dinky stones and the bushes.

Garage door is just to in your face. Paint it the color of the siding. Same for the trim. simple, classy.

The garage looks navy to me, so I see red, white and blue as it is now. The shutters are ridiculous. Why would there be shutters on one window, regardless of how skimpy they are?

I say remove the shutters and walk away. Realize none of these suggestions will get the sellers one more dime. If a buyer hates the too many colors scheme of the home they will walk away to avoid the work. How much do you want to spend to sell becomes the question.

Is the house in a ”hard to sell, long on the market” area? If not, I’d do nothing but repaint the front door. Most buyers in my area often repaint & re-landscape anyway & those shutters ( which I don’t like ) certainly wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. I buy for location, foremost , other things can be changed, colors included. Lol.

It's in a good area and gated. We still need to be competitive because it is a balanced market, leaning towards a buyers' market. Not really here to talk about the market though - First impression, professional photos are very important to us, for sure! Thanks to all of you for your feedback. Lately black doors seem to be in style but I really liked Maureen and Tracie's alternative suggestion. The hedge/bush was a good catch, also someone mentioned pressure washing. Many thanks!

"Gated and HOA" I would say are your biggest challenges with selling. given the curb appeal does not match either of these. Garbage cans in front, yard dead or dying, miss matched paint job, miss matched windows.... Was the room over the garage an add on? Price it right and move on.

The grass is dead , the shrub needs to go and so does all that awful attempt at landscaping around that shrub. I like the idea of a shaped bed filled with gravel and some nice plants The door is fine , remove the shutters and maybe wash the house

I like the idea of black here. Since the garage door and shutters are already dark, a soft black or deep charcoal front door would help everything feel more intentional. For resale, I’d keep it simple and avoid a bold color. A darker door would modernize the entry, add contrast, and still feel neutral enough for most buyers.
