Help for a quick Get Well gift

last month

First thing this morning I learned that one of my team members had emergency surgery last night. She is fine now but in ICU and she will be recovering for the next week or so ... I was going to send flowers but since she will be moving from the hospital to home, I am thinking they could be a big hassle. Instead, I ordered this cozy soft ugg blanket in a color she will love ... and I *think* i have a pair of cozy soft cashmere socks to package with it.

Anything else you can suggest to put into her package? It was a very scary experience for her so I want to make sure she knows we care and are here for her. I need to ship it out tomorrow so must be something I can pick up quickly ... but no food items.

Surgery was laproscopic so I was thinking maybe an oversized soft tee? Is that weird lol?

Beautiful color on that comfy looking throw. Cashmere socks are a bonus but agree that you don't need to add anything else although I get the urge. Very thoughtful gift!

    Thanks for the feedback!

I should have added that she is quite young ... mid 20s. Not sure that makes a difference.

Yes, I will include a note ... and will package with pretty tissue paper and ribbons to make it feel a little more special.

My DD is that age and she would be thrilled with that gift!

Yes, age does matter. I was going to say I have more throws than we can use, but somone in her 20s can probably use a nice snugggly throw. The only tme I had a stay in the hospital, we were sent a fruit basket, and that turned out to be something I really enjoyed, but so did my family and even a patient in pediatrics when the hospital ran out of bananas. That still makes me smile. Hope she has a smooth recovery.

That sounds like a perfect gift for you, Lascatx!

For this specific situation, I need to avoid food at least until I can talk to my employee. I was told the surgery was on her stomach but the info was relayed to me second hand and there was a language barrier .. it is a possibility that the surgery was on her ovary.

Either way, food is best to avoid, i think.

Also, she is moving to my area (most of my team is remote) and setting up her own place/first apartment soon. I think she will appreciate the throw!

    Thanks again, all!

It’s a perfect gift as is. If you feel you need more a candle or book would be my suggestion.

Very thoughtful. And I agree with the others, that girl will love the blanket and socks. My oldest DGDs are 26 & 27 and would be thrilled with those.

Thank you all -- yes, I think she'll love the blanket and the socks.

She is young-- has only her brother here with her in the US. I am sure this has been very scary for her and I expect the recovery will take some time (though I have no details as yet).

She is friends with one of my other developers and his wife and they are considering going down to see her when she is ready for visitors. He told me to make sure she knows we care about her-- I had to reassure him that I would package her gift in a way to delight her and make her feel special when she opens it. I have a good and caring team-- always looking out for each other.

Re: socks and abdominal surgery. Can she bend over to put on the socks?

You are so thoughtful! Your team must love you!

Oh, good point, Bbstx. I didnt think that through very well .. of course, she will be able to enjoy them eventually. Also, they are cashmere so they will be too warm very soon (though I am wearing mine on this rainy cold evening)
