I tried a variegated one… may have been Stairway to Heaven. It didn’t last more than a few years for me and it wasn’t exciting enough for me to replace it.

It's native here. I had some in my woods on my old property 4 miles up the road and I moved some here. I'm letting it seed into the woods along with Virginia bluebells and, I hope, Dodacatheon (Shooting Stars). Spring beauties are also spreading and I hope the blood root will too. All natives here.

I adore this plant. I have had P. caeruleum for decades. I am now growing P. yezoense Purple Rain. This will be the third year for it in the garden sited in full sun but moist soil. I would highly any variety except my experience with Stairway to Heaven was the same as party_music.

Mine is spreading slowly. stairway to Heaven was a bust. The whole world thinks so. I am amazed it is still being sold.

Silly me. I just bought my second Stairway. The first one never did much, but I put the new one in a shadier spot. I think it is already on the way out.
