id suggest 2 quick tweaks. rotate the coffee table. it looks like the long side is facing the shorter upholstered piece.. id also rotate the rug and put more of the furniture on it.

I too would rotate the rug and the coffee table, long with the length of the sofa and put the club chair facing the big window with the slim window behind.

Move the tall pant out of the corner into the light.

Is the sofa centered between the slim window and the corner?

What does the sofa face? an open room? a TV?

Its okay I do agree turn the coffee table and make sure the people on the sofa can reach it , you could try turning the rug , I see no reason to do so. The room lacks personality the art looks like a hotel so maybe find a piece or 2 if you want but love them do not buy them "to go with " the room A bit of texture too so maybe a knitted throw over the chair and pillows in a color from the new art .

I would remove the tree in the corner. Consider replacing one of the pillows with one with a little color in it, perhaps the color of the vase.

Is everything in the after things you have already purchased? While I think you're headed in the right direction, it reads a bit flat. There's not much contrast with the darker colors except with the lamp shade and pillows. I would add a bit larger tray to the coffee table but something that has contrast. Perhaps a metal tray instead to add some light and contrast.

    Same for the lamps.

Maybe a pillow with a bit more interest.

I bit too sterile, IMO. Bring in a warm color with a rug that fits the space, accent chair in rattan and texture in fabric pillows.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I would consider different art.

I think you could use a bit more color/pattern in the room.

The after is better but as chispa stated more color and pattern should enliven the room and make it more appealing.

This is billed as “before and after” so one has to assume that the second photo is changes that have ALREADY been made and things that have been purchased. Therefore assuming that the OP is asking for feedback but not a makeover. I agree, larger tray on the table and a pillow with a bit of punch to it… black might work. I would also move the tree on the left. It looks crowded and isn’t adding anything to the arrangement.

    And rotate the coffee table

The tree to the left of the couch actually worked better where you had it in the original position. Although it’s hard to judge because I’m not looking at the room from that angle, I can see it used to be to the left of the chair.
