It seems to me that some daylilies are mixed up this year concerning blooming time. I noted that Peter Pan's Kiss is blooming now, but we registered it as a midseason. Our I Lava You has scapes but is still at least a week away from flowers.

Kiss of Paradise is pretty. It always bloomed early for us. We sold it off at the herb fair in the name of downsizing. It was getting scapes then (early May).

We are headed for very hot weather next week, with questionable rain. Early June could be problematic in terms of moisture. I Lava You looks very good.

Nan - I agree that many daylilies are confused on their timing this year. I have some MLs with scapes that are pretty developed already.

Mantis - We are supposed to have temps in the high 80s with high humidity next week. There are several chances for rain though, so I hope at least one of those materializes.

Nice photo of Applique and Kiss of Paradise is always pretty. Glad to see your season beginning and I hope it’s a good one! Oh, how I can relate to lawn workers! mine pulled up my liatris last week thinking they were weeds and weedeated too close to one border and down went some scapes!!

I totally agree. I Lava started blooming early and bloomed the longest it eve3r has. It is such a good one. The rain has been wonderful and terrible because you couldn't get out and now weeds are everywhere.. I lava You looks great,Debra and so do the others. I really like Kiss of Paradise.

You sent me two fans of Palace Garden Beauty X Karelia X This longing when you sent me ”Leonard” before you moved. I thought the seedlings were dying last summer. The two scapes are twice as big as last season but probably wont bloom for a few seasons. I forgot what it looked like….do you have a photo?

I was interested in that little tidbit about you over wintering successfully in your garage. Welcome to my world. Sorry to hear about your leg. I hope the problem resolves itself so you can enjoy the blooms.........Next week our heat arrives again. This past Wednesday we had a temperature of 98 with a heat index of 106. Temporary respite from the temperatures due to the threat of rain, but that just raised the humidity to make it almost as uncomfortable..........Maryl

Your photos looks good. I especially like Undress Your Imagination. Appears to be a small bloom but really nice colors.

Julia - Undress your Imagination is registered as a 5-inch bloom, but the first flower looked much larger than that to me. The color is darker than the blooms from last year, probably because of the cooler temps.

Maryl and Sherry - I bought quite a few daylilies last year and ended up being unable to get them all planted last fall before hard freezes came early in November. I did get about 18 in the ground. All the ones I overwintered in the garage did well. I overwintered a few dormants in my shed. The ones in the smallest pots died, but the ones in larger pots did fine. I still need to dig beds for the 15 overwintered pots and 8 new ones I got this Spring. I'm sort of afaid to plant them. Last year most of the ones I planted in summer got mowed down.

Kay - I Lava You always bloomed EM for me in Nashville. It is a good one!

Kate - The problem with my lawn service is that it's a large company, and it seems different people mow and weed eat almost every week. If it were the same person every time, I could set them straight.

Thanks for posting the seedling photo. I had to go into my notes to see the parents of the seedling, didnt remember. It is a beauty…..hope i see some blooms on it in the future.

Sherry - It sounds like the seedling does not care for your climate. When I sent the fans to you, they were blooming size already. It has not multiplied well for Kate. Originally I thought I would register it, since it multiplied and bloomed well for me in Nashville, but the trial reports are not good.

Glad to see your blooms starting! Applique and I Lava You are my favorites. Praying for your leg pain. Have you tried taking turmeric? Some people get a lot of pain relief from it.
