Do you have a towel bar on the left wall? Is that a cabinet or door on the right? If a cabinet, I feel centered may look better. What does your eye say? I don't think tiling the wall will help.

Nothing on the left wall yet, although we may add a towel bar there later. The element on the right is a cabinet tower. My eye keeps coming back to centering the mirror and light fixture within the available wall space rather than centering them on the sink. The challenge is that I need to make the electrical and mirror placement decisions before the mirror and light fixture arrive.

Center the mirror and light on the wall space and not on the sink. The eye sees the un-centered mirror before ever noticing the un-centered sink.

Do you enter the bathroom from directly in front of the sink? How far back from the vanity will you typically be standing? Only asking because the perspective changes, depending on where you are looking at it from.

My take as a user, not a designer: when I get ready in the morning, or take off makeup at night, etc., I have to center myself in front of the sink. Therefore the more elements that are centered over the sink, the easier and more enjoyable the room is for me. This is especially true of the light, because having the light even three inches to one side will light my face unevenly.

I agree with Patricia - I immediately liked the version where the light fixture/mirror/sink/doors are all lined up vs. centering the light fixture/mirror in the space. I like having all of those elements in line with each other.

I would put a towel holder over on the left side (wall mounted - or one on the counter if you prefer those). I think having a little extra space on that side for the hand towel will work nicely.

My other thought was similar to Jeffrey's above - if you use one large mirror that fills the entire space over the vanity, you won't have to decide whether to center the mirror over the sink or in the space over the vanity. I would still center the light fixture over the sink + in line with the center of the two doors. I don't think anyone will notice that the light fixture isn't centered within the space over the vanity.
