Hi all,

Recently I redesigned our dining area myself. However, I am not sure about the result. I would like some opinions/suggestions. Thanks guys!

    What don't you like?

What is your intended use for the space?

Looks-wise it is fine, but I wouldn't have much use for banquette/booth seating if you actually eat meals there. Realistically with that size table, only 4 adult would be comfortable eating with that layout.

Agree it looks nice, but is the table big enough? It could just be the picture, but is the table big enough for 4 people to have a plate and drink?

I would spin the rug and pull the table and chairs out a bit

if you pull the whole unit out to centered on the art AND the window it wouldn't look squeezed into the corner.

any window blinds planned? a shade of some kind would soften the feel... even a top down Bottom up blind for light control and privacy.

I think woild prefer a rectangular table personally. Seems it would give more seating options.

You’ve done a great job, but I think a few tweaks would really pull it together. One, a drum shade would fill in the space above table and seating. Two, consider artwork that includes some of the aqua color from pillows. Three, the rectangular rug really needs to be square. Check your area and see if anyone will cut your rug down and bind the edge or consider buying a square one that fits the space. I like the pattern of it. The only other thing I’d suggest is move the plant closer to the window to be more a part of the grouping.

Thanks all for the comments! The table is 47.25" in diameter, so it's definitely big enough for 4 people to be comfortably seated. It's probably because of the angle in the picture that it looks so small. That being said, I think I could maybe buy a round table that can be extended to an oval shape to provide more space when needed?

@Emily thanks for the picture! I really like the drum shade pendant light.

I would have selected an extension table to allow for two more people and would have chosen a bit smaller/less heavy looking art and due to the small table, proportions feel off.

If you aren’t able to add a ceiling light consider wall sconses (with batteries if not wanting to do the electrical). The floor lamp is in an awkward spot and its lighting is more ambient than practical. Perhaps a window treatment is being considered. Hope this helped a bit….it’s a nice space, but you asked lol.

Looks good! My suggestion only is to pull the banquette out a bit from the wall and to the right; (maybe the photo), but center the table on the art.

@Design Interior South I am thinking getting an extendable table so it can be round or extended to oval shape.

You needed a rectangulat table with that bench seating for sure .Oval is awkward when the baquette is not oval.. I dislke banquette seating and for sure not for an actual DR , maybe abreakfast nook for kids ,

@aikeke if the size of your banquette is not going to change I don't think an extendable table is neccesary just get one that fits the space. If you have ever use a banquette oval is nice because it is easy to ease oneself in and out of the banquette seating which isnt always the easiest to access. The eased edges on an oval help greatly with that opening up your entrance. Best of luck!
