Verde Viana for Kitchen Counters

last month

Hello experts! I'm considering Verde Viana marble for our kitchen counters. Our designer recommended it, but the supplier said it would be a poor choice in terms of overall durability. Here are the specs for the stone: COMPRESSION STRENGTH › 760 kg/cm2 BENDING STRENGTH › 83 kg/cm2 POROSITY › 0,2% WATER ABSORPTION › 0,1%. The only other viable alternative is quartz, but all things being equal, I prefer the look of natural stone. Granite is not an option in Portugal where the home is located. The kitchen will get moderate use. Does anyone have input about the practicality of putting this marble in the kitchen? It will look lovely with our off white shaker cabinets and sea views. But ugly with acid corrosion and wine stains! I appreciate any thoughts or experience. Thank you!
